I still don't get the joke.
As I read it:
- "Maryland" is the place in which the character's father practices law, and plays on "Mary".
- "Queen" implies a haughty attitude, and, well, is the title of the aforementioned Mary
- "Scold" refers to a person who constantly finds fault (and is generally applied to women), and plays on "Scot"
What would be a good name for a killing machine of a warrior who also at least gives one act of mercy beforehand?
Context: The main character (Captain Dale Lee)is an American fighter pilot in WWI and is one of the most feared pilot in the entire Allied Powers, with over 30 confirmed kill.
When he sees enemies, he fires warning shot and gives several minutes to either retreat or surrender. If the enemy stays around the vicinity after the warning, he then swoops and goes for the kill. Most don't get away.
The one I got so far are "Half-Mercy Lee" and "Two-Strike Pilot"

Title ideas for The Legend of Korra fanfic arcs?
- The first in the shortfic series about the new (earth kingdom) Avatar, who doesn't know he is one yet and lives in a remote village. He and another teen boy fight and fall down a ravine, where the only way out is to walk to the other end where the mountain stops. Because they don't stay put, the protagonist's father doesn't find them. They're stalked by bandits whose attack causes the protagonist (earthbender) to accidentally bend fire at them, revealing that he's the avatar. Once they're saved he's supposed to go to Southern Water Tribe for training, but insists on helping the army catch the bandits while his earthbending training continues.
- In the second one the avatar goes to southern water tribe, which after the events of TLOK is in a could war with the northern tribe. He secretly participates in a sailboat race between the tribes (it's like those dick-measuring contests between Usa and Ussr), and learns that spies and saboteurs are involved. He and two water tribe boys need to solve the situation discreetly to avert catastrophe/open accusations/anybody getting caught or confessing because otherwise the war could turn hot.
- There's going to be at least three more arcs (one for each element and another for avatar state) but i haven't figured them out yet.
Mmm...tell me more. What does the artifact look like? Are there deities in your universe? Is the artifact from a specific culture?
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallThe artifact is from a Science Fantasy setting with no deities and the “other” world is Earth. It maybe looks like sort of a globe?
Maybe call it something like "The Galactic Clock".
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallHmm... Maybe something like "the Synchrovoculum"? (Meaning something like "aligned calling/summoning", I think.) Note that this may be awful Latin (or Latin and Greek ^^; ), so there may be a better form of the word!

x6 ...Shouldn't the Earth Kingdom Avatar go first to Fire Nation to learn Firebending, since order is Water->Earth->Fire->Air-Water and so on?
That's the order of the avatar cycle. As far as i'm aware it doesn't matter that much which element you start fromnote . The main thing about it was that the element most opposite to your personality was the hardest to master.

~*bleh*~Well, from what I've looked up, it's both traditional and recommended that Avatar learns the elements in the order of cycle starting from their native bending. For example, while Korra was able to bend water, earth and fire as a kid, Katara recommended that Korra would master waterbending before learning others.note
I assure you, I'm perfectly trustable personNice names, everyone! Especially Ars’s. I settled on “Wittgenstein
” for now, but I might make it a clock instead of a globe (based on WarJay’s)—still not entirely sure.
Ahh. I kept the idea because of my work’s theming around time as well as space.

I thought of a clock mostly because I thought it'd be cool if the artifact basically counted down until it could be used.
