I mean, gender joke aside, she's not all human, either. Less so later in the timeline.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireDecreasingly geneticaly human but more morally human and humane than the idiots behind BSL
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIt's funny the Federation Navy is, while not terribly competent, at least not evil; Meanwhile, the entire rest of the Federation seems to be cartoonishly evil, only to a lesser degree than the Space Pirates.
If you go with the canon that the Federation was created by or supported by the Chozo it makes it so that basically Samus is their only offspring that doesn’t fuck everything up forever
And the Metriods at least have the excuse that it’s other people attempting to abuse their potential, they work just as intended when left alone
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWell, at least the rest of the Federation military, as that's the only bit of the Federation we ever deal with.
The Federation in Prime 3 is actually pretty competent for what would normally be portrayed as a Redshirt Army. IIRC, the escort mission where you have to protect them is actually notable in that the soldiers you're escorting are actually able to defend themselves reasonably well.
Other M has kind of an Idiot Plot in general. The Federation is some combination malicious and incompetent, to the point where it's hard to tell when they're being stupid and when they're being incompetent and when they're being both. Charitably, one can say that they're Well Intentioned Extremists who are painfully incompetent (in fact, I suspect that's what they were trying to be portrayed as).

"Any campaign world where an orc samurai can leap off a landcruiser to fight a herd of Bulbasaurs will always have my vote of confidence"Fred Clark's Law: "Sufficiently advanced stupidity is indistinguishable from malice."
The people behind the Bottle ship, and also that one BSL Station, are just a small part of the Federation. Adam didn't know who they were. That's why he was sent to investigate in the first place. And he's an Army General. The Chairman didn't know because that's who Anthony was going to report to. This was all done in secret.
I thought the BSL was, like, the main Federation deciding "You know what, that BOTTLE SHIP rebel team had some good ideas, let's copy their plot wholesale like idiots"
God, Other M makes Fusion's plot retroactively stupid.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Biologic Space Labs is an entity completely separate from the Federation military. I'm pretty sure it's a corporation or something. The splinter group within the Federation military botched up on the Bottle Ship, so they gave the metroids to the BSL guys to pick up where they left off. I'm guessing that the guy Adam talks to in that one cutscene is the head of the organization, because he's wearing a suit and not a military uniform.
Samus can rock damn near everything she wears.
I can’t stop imagining Metroid Noir now
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSo where do the Dominion and "Project Ultimate Warrior" fit into all this?
I can feel it, I'M GETTING STRONGER, POWERFUL.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Oh shit, I need this
Context: Metroid Prime Trilogy, Persona 5, and A Link to the Past have shown up on Best Buy's systems.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Retro is going on a hiring spree for Prime 4.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Someone put up promotional art for the Super Mario Bros. Power Hour on eBay and it seems the initial concept for a Metroid series would have had a generic white guy as its protagonist.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I have to admit I am very relieved they didn't go with generic white guy.
Like, I get there's a very real chance that the decision to make Samus a girl came from a board meeting basically boiling down to 'We don't have any fanservice in this game, let's reward players for beating it fast with fanservice from the main character!' without much thought beyond that, but still.
Not gonna lie, I think the design of that monster guy is pretty good. Also, the generic Samus stand-in looks just like Rad Gravity.
Was this proposed Power Hour going to be part of the 1989 Season, meaning it would air alongside the Super Show? It seems like it was an early idea for what would become Captain N & The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 which came out in 1990.

There's still rumours that the Japanese version of the original Metroid didn't have the reveal at the end and it was shoehorned in by Nintendo of America. Not that I believe it, but then again I never played version 1 Metroid on a Famicom...

Oissu!I mean, if you ignore the obvious problem the rest of the art doesn't look so bad. And they probably had the excuse that they didn't know who Metroid was.
Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences.
They all theorise that whatever lying underneath the helmet is in fact not man at all...
