References/similarities to Fusion...
- Pretty much everything about Adam.
- Last boss is a Metroid form.
- Linearity
- The setting in Other M is TRO, PYR, and ARC with the generic BSL sections in-between (Too bad we never got Tourian)
- NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Ridley's death.
- Nightmare and Ridley disappearing after the credits.
- The whole plot.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Just a few references: Adam's death is mentioned, Ridley's corpse is on board and gets copied by the X into another Ridley clone, Nightmare is there, and the plot is remarkably similar.
Ninja'd. Oh, and there's the Sectors + Main Deck type of map (Both 3's are fire, even), and both are more plot-heavy than the others.
When you fight Nightmare in Fusion, his face melts and drips as you hit him. Not a similarity, but it's pretty awesome and gross.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Speaking of something I said in the last post: They really should have used their creativity more with the environments. We already have had way too many lava levels and jungle levels, and we've had the BEST ICE LEVEL EVAH!!! in Phendrana Drifts.
Oh yeah, the Ki-hunters were a reference mainly to Fusion (They were in Super Metroid, but they're obviously the Fusion kind in Other M).

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.The caves near the edge are pretty awesome and breathtaking.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I personally think Sanctuary Fortress, Elysia, and Phendrana Drifts from a trio of the most beautiful Metroids levels... Ever.
Although I do like Ghost Ship.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.There's something about the wrecked Frigate Orpheon that I like. It's pretty cool before it crashes, too. Definitely one of the better opening levels, Down the Drain levels, and examples of Chekhov's Gun.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Oh yeah, speaking of Chekhov's Guns... The mutated parasites are a huge one. They pretty much explain the whole "Space Pirates experimenting with phazon" story before you even know what the hell phazon is.
Another great piece of foreshadowing is the boss statue in Super Metroid. You recognized Ridley and Kraid, but the others were mysterious, and you had no idea when the hell they'd pop up... Probably when you least expected it.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Is that avatar Phantoon?
He looks so adorable getting ready to crush a planet with his tentacles.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Actually, I was talking about the statue of the four main bosses: Ridley, Phantoon, Draygon, and Kraid.
Although Torizo's awesome too.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.

Other Griffith, getting riled up every time someone even talks about Other M doesn't work. It just adds fuel to the fire. I should know...
Also, time to gush about a game I don't like: I am so fucking HAPPY that they brought back Nightmare. No, it doesn't make any sense in relation to Fusion, but he's my favorite boss, and Other M's battles, while not as good as Fusion's, were still fun. The only problems I had were aesthetic; Nightmare moved a bit too quickly and jerkily for my liking, his baby voice is a very big case of YMMV, and I was sad that his face didn't melt. However, it's still fucking Nightmare! FUCK YEAH, GRAVITY SCREW!
