From what I remember, Creating New Redirects was supposed to have an example of the redirect coding, but it turns the entire page into a redirect instead. Looks like that was never fixed.
I tried to fix it but failed. Now I can't edit Creating New Redirects at all. That might just be the downtime, though.
I really wish the escape markup worked properly...

Pretentious quote || In-joke from fandom you've never heard of || Shameless self-promotion || Something weird you'll habituate toI managed to fix it. I got to the edit screen by editing New Trope and replacing the trope name. Then I snagged the escape sequence used on Text Formatting Rules. Turns out you need two to block redirects.

Fight smart, not fair.Last I checked, redirects to redirects just don't follow, like on Wikipedia.
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.As a side note, the "Redirected from Main.Redirect Test" thing no longer seems to we working. It just pops you directly to the page the redirect targets. There's no "&redirectfrom=whatever" (or whatever it was; can't recall off the top of my head) in the URL, either.
When I visit E.T. Gave Us Wi-Fi I get a page that has redirect code on it, but it doesn't actually redirect me anywhere.

While randomly getting lost through various articles, I stumbled upon a link to Chi's Sweet Home. Except this version was spelled without an apostrophe. This page clearly meant to redirect to the main article, and the URL works, the redirect doesn't. I wanted to correct this, so I checked "Editing Help" for information, and the Redirect page didn't really give a clause for URL titles("ptitle0la6c682" instead of the name), but fortunately it had a page called "Creating New Redirects" which I thought would help it.
Except it didn't, because the moment I clicked that link I was immediately redirected to an empty page called 'New Trope'. Is this a joke, or did someone accidentally(or non accidentally) redirect the entire page to a blank page called "New Trope"?
EDIT for clarity: About 2 seconds after posting this, I figured out that it needed curly braces around the redirect. That still, however, doesn't explain the "New Trope" redirect. That's what the thread is about, not solving the redirect problem(it's been solved already).
