I think he meant "the Americans fought that the Brits didn't join in on". Though Urgent Fury and Blue Spoon* , and possibly Somalia depending on how you count it, also qualify for the list.
(Also, the sad thing is that the Brits had to face down a jungle-borne Communist insurgency too. They handled it successfully, and as a result nobody remembers Malaya.)

Ah, good point. If there's still anti-Communist sentiment it means the Brits accomplished their objectives. Which the British public doesn't remember much of.

Let's just say that I'm suspicious of the North Vietnamese any time they declared they wanted peace when their stated goal was to conquer all of Vietnam. The Viet Cong, the South's homebrew insurgent communists, had their backs broken by the Tet Offensive, which had burned through their ranks. After that Hanoi ran the war directly with NVA units.
Besides, wanting peace is entirely inconsistent with 1975. Nixon did draw down the American military and begin the process of withdrawing from the South by '72. Finally, there was the entire POW issue for him. The North Vietnamese never did settle that until 1973, and the one issue everyone was agreed on was to "bring the boys home" (see: Son Tay).
