I assume so. Or at least somewhere around the $500-600 range (preferably from New Egg).
-gluddles Crack-
Anyways, gonna be here just a brief moment before calling it a night.
I now go by Graf von Tirol.(wraps arms around Crackie) I'll admit, lass, I was quite nervous when I saw you rather unhappy in the morning (my time); Twitter tells me you were stressed out after homework, which explains part of it. That was a bit of a damper on my day. Hopefully you're feeling better now...?
@Earl:okay, my estimation of stuff is rather outdated, but you'll want a good C2D processor, a motherboard to go with it, and a decent vidcard—the 8400GS or 8600 series are quite decent for their prices. Also, 4GB RAM at least. Beyond that you can start recycling components.
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.Hmm, okay I'll take that into consideration. Here is the list I've compiled earlier (all from New Egg):
- Sapphire Radeon HD 6770 Video Card ($118)
- Rosewill Backbone Steel Computer Case ($45)
- AMD Quad Core Desktop AP Motherboard ($120)
- Rosewill 530W Power Supply ($50)
- Samsung CD/DVD Player w/ Lightscribe ($23)
- Seagate Barracuda 1 TB Hard Drive ($65)
- Patriot 2 GB RAM ($28) [although you suggested 4, so I'll take that into account]
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooler ($50)
All adding up to close to $500, but then again there may be better alternatives to keep PC building economical...

I now go by Graf von Tirol.I advise disassembling an older computer to get the DVD drive and the casing, and probably also the power supply. That will save you a lot of money, which can in turn be reinvested into the CPU/mobo combo. I don't see the stats on that CPU; what motherboard are you pairing it with? Also, get two more GB's of RAM. 4GB will be necessary to handle the modern games, and lets your computer age that much better.
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.I'm okay now. I didn't complete it all, but still did a good chunk of it.
My plan today is to not drink a ton of caffeine. It wakes me up, but reduces my attention span. I'm just going through the day and will be drinking fruit juice and hot chocolate. And bed at 8:30pm when my parents go out.

(rests head in Crackie's lap) Sounds good, lass. Though, if you're feeling especially stressed, feel free to shoot me an angry PM or MSN. I'm worried that lashing out at the Pile will hurt someone.

Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.>hugs voids and crack and earl and sabre< :3
Long day, got ketchup, paid off another parking ticket, got lunch, voted in a primary against a bunch of protest candidates who were soundly defeated, discovered Star Trek on netflix, ate dinner, soaked my foot because I have an ingrown toenail or atleast a baby one, did a double take at the single stupidest comment I have ever seen on the fora, ate some rice, and now I'm watching more Top Gear.
:3
How was your day?

Same. Seven hours' sleep, wake up, go to looong work conference, get back...
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.(sways from tiredness)
Cool news: apparently an IRL friend of mine is a remote coworker of someone who has lurked TV Tropes long enough to recognize my handle. Small world.
Also, tired. Will collapse now.
(crumples against Crackie)
Night, all.

The Pile is slow because it hasn't got me in it.
