"Wait, why are you scared of a dementor when you can cast a patronus? I mean, I don't know any other resident soul-sucking beasts." Kieran asked with a raised eyebrow. While he asked that he cast a non-verbal revealing spell to see if the dark wizard was being truthful or not.

“That sounds about right, they rarely stick around to fight it out with you. Then again it's not really in their best interest to do so” Warren said as he downed his tea and continued. “The name of the game is transition. It's all about adapting to new and emerging threats and dealing with them when and where they crop up. This unit used to be called RAINBOW, and specialized in counter terrorism, though that was before your time. Now it's changed a bit, and we deal with the magical element. That's not to say that the days of some idiots taking a plane full of hostages are over, but not there's a possibility that those same individuals will carry a wand instead of a gun. Adapt or die man.”
Warren paused for a moment to let it all sink in before continuing. “Anything you want to ask me?”

“You there, in the back of the group. Just because I can't hear your words doesn't mean that I can't see you making the motions. Apparently telling you that you're in an unideal situation isn't enough, perhaps a demonstration is in order.” The wizard said as he quickly motioned with one hand. Seconds later half a dozen similarly dressed wizards appeared around the room, wands pointed at the group.
“Now where were we?”
"So the imperiused guy was lying, believe it or not. Or mistaken. Or I wasn't specific enough. One of those three. Oh, and guys, I highly suggest we hold this smartass as hostage so the rest don't kill us. Not that I have anything against smartasses. So, uh, if you guys don't put down your wands then your mouthy leader gets done in." His wand pointed directly at the leader's chest in quite an obvious and dramatic way.

"I've seen magic protect against hazards before, so it's in the realm of probability" Warren said. "That being said, they bleed red just like you and I; nothing really changes when it comes down to it. Now we need to look about getting you settled in, there should be a few open rooms in the barracks, just toss your stuff down and stake your claim. You've got a few hours before do a debrief of our last mission, so take some time to familiarize yourself with the place. The rest of the team should be around here."
Giving a curt not, warren excused himself and went to his office.

The robed man turned to face Kieran, eying him for a few seconds from underneath his hood before he spoke. "If you're so keen as to point that want at me I suggest you use it now or stand down, because if you test my patience once again I will gladly demonstrate why you are out of your league."
He let those words sink in for a moment before he continued on Lita again. "What I do is here is my business and mine alone. Suffice to say I'm doing what needs to be done to win this war. You're a witch, you should know quite well what's at stake here, yet here you are cavorting with muggles. You are at a disadvantage, I highly suggest you take my offer and leave this place unharmed; while you can."
"What you're doing is giving the Muggles a reason to kill us all. If they even think we might have 'weapons of mass destruction', we are on our deathbed. We are outnumbered, outgunned, and getting a hold of something like that is just going to give them reason to use all of those guns. There are more muggle soldiers than there are wizards. Not wizard soldiers. Just wizards. It is not your business alone when it threatens the lives of innocent families."

"Muggles don't need a reason to kill us, as though the bodies at St Mungo's weren't proof enough of their intent" the wizard replied. "Look at yourself for a moment, you're in the middle of a war, in an abandoned library, and yet here you are lecturing me on ethics and morals. You say to think about the innocent families? You have no idea how right you are, I do what i'm doing for their benefit...for those that no longer have a family. I'm going to end this war, now you can either help me or stand aside."
Deciding to lower his wand instead of attacking, for the time being, Kieraqn chose to ask a question and in a slightly confused tone inquired, "Um, guys, what is this rift-thingy that you're having a massive argument about? And how many people can it kill?"

You think we won't need a weapon like this in reserve if the muggles hot up the war, or a batshit massive army is approaching us. Although, I agree that it shouldn't be in the hands of lunatics, a weapon like this as a threat would be seriously useful in negotiations or in the chance that the muggles start literally exterminating us for no reason instead of the cat and mouse game we're playing now that gives them the advantage since we're purely reacting to their attacks. Course we'll have to take it off this maniac if he doesn't want to co-operate, but other than that I don't see the trouble." Kieran replied quietly with a shrug.

I am here because of the British Ministry of Magic in an official capacity. There are people backing me. I am asking you for a reason—tell me about this thing, and how to shut it down."

"It seems as though your friend here is smarter than he appears" the wizard said as he looked back at Lita, his dark hood continuing to obscure his features. "Despite his earlier ignorance he is right in his points, we are in posession of a tool that can turn the tide of this war and hopefully end it. We are atva clear disadvantage and everything we can do to rectify that is a bonus. Now I am finished talking, there's nothing else I have to say."
"Ministry or not there is no stopping this, we're leaving here soon enough. You seem like smart enough people, why not come with us? You want this to be over just as much as I do."
"It won't—AUGH!" A violent wave of kinetic energy emanated from Lita's position. The floor cracked loudly, and everyone around her was pushed away a bit. "It will only cause more death and more misery and more destruction and at the end, there will be nothing more than the remnants of humanity in a cold, dead planet."
Her hands were tightened into fists and she was shaking slightly. Violence is the weapon of the weak minded... Violence is the weapon of the weak minded...
"We have to stop this before both sides kill eachother and there is nothing left but ash."

All's I'm saying is that if they have their bombs it puts as at a huge disadvantage. Or would you rather that we were wiped out, because I don't know about you but I don't want to go down without a fight. Which is the whole reason why this war is going on. But if the muggles just chilled for a moment they'd see that we could work together and probably have a better world instead of going into World War III. But until that happens I'm not going to let our own kind die without giving some payback."

I would but first I have some questions. Firstly, why the hack did you kidnap me in the first place if you like me so much, and secondly, what are your motives? And I mean all of them, not just the 'saving wizardkind' bit because there's got to be more to it than that. And then, I might think about it. Can't guarantee it but it'll be at the front of my mind, don't worry."

Allan shifted uncomfortably, he didn't really want to talk about his ignorance with his C.O., but he'd been asked a question, best to answer it.
"I know that it exists, and I know they've been hiding from us, and wiping people's memories and things, but that's it. I've never actually faced a wizard." He paused, then continued, "Seen one though, ran into him while I was on tour, guy in robes with a stick who just disappeared when our unit came into view. Thought I was seeing things or something until I learned about them."
