they will be better. it's just that this is a business in which sequels tend too get better instead of worse. because Gameplay is more important than story and it's easier to enhance gameplay than to enhance story (that's no to say that videogames have bad stories but they do not get better or worse during sequels, at least not that much) and let's face it we''re talking Bioware and Naughty Dog here. there's no way this could possibly go wrong
It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.edited 16th Dec '10 1:40:36 PM by WildKnight
The blind man walking off the cliff is not making a leap of faith.I believe so. I'm expected U3 to tear a hole in the fabric of reality with its awesomeness. If it's just a smidgen better than U2, I think the universe will break.

Against all tyrants.I'm expecting ME 3 to repair your hole in reality then tear it open again.
...So, what's that in American terms? June/July, or something? How do holidays work over there?
Against all tyrants."The holidays" refers to Thanksgiving through Christmas, so it's late November through late December. However, the release date specifically mentions the first of November, so "holiday" really does somehow mean November/December.
About Uncharted 3, the gameplay footage shown off on Jimmy Fallon looked so far like much of the same of Uncharted 2, though one new ability was shown off: you can now jump on enemies from overhead and land on them to kill them (Drake grabs the guy's head with his arm and pushes him down while landing). That could add another cool dynamic to fighting.
It looked like it had the same type of scripted stuff as before, like when Drake's foot gets caught in the board of wood and Sullivan tries to pull him out, so you're forced to aim and shoot without being able to move for a short while. Or when the floor breaks and he falls down and ends up hanging on a railing by one hand, the sort of thing that happened a lot in the second game. I hope they come up with more creative scenarios and scripts that feel less scripted. I'm not saying the game won't be fun - it certainly looks like it will be - but I do feel scripted events are starting to get a little obvious.

The section on Jimmy Fallon would have been better if someone on that show knew how to aim properly.
Against all tyrants.@ Wild Knight true. but remember who we're talking about. unless Homer Simpson is appointed as a programmer on either on those games (and honestly such an event would probably make all disc just burn) there's no way anything can go wrong. i mean not even God wants to fuck with Commander Shepard and Nathan Drake...Let alone them combined. and no chuck norris doesn't want to do it either... mostly because he wants to play them as much as us
It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.I like how its automatically assumed the two are joined at the hip. Yeah, their scores have been about the same for both the original and the sequel (I think Mass Effect 1 got slightly higher reviews than Drakes Fortune, but both got about the same scores for their greatly improved sequels - i.e. FUCKING AWESOME!), but apart from that, the games could not be more different. Uncharted is a very linear modern day action adventure game that steers into mild fantasy now and again, and takes great pride in defining and characterising its leading man, and stressing humourous writing. Mass Effect is a very open ended futurstic RPG that keeps itself very firmly in Science Fiction, while allowing the player to define the lead characters personality, and stressing more dramatic dialogue.
They even had the whole "One is Ps3, the other 360" thing going until there was a Mass Defection.
It just seems funny to me that the assumption is "both will be amazing, or both will tank." I mean, it is possible for one to do better than other.
Me, however? Nah, both will fucking rule.
The bonus is that you only need one console to play both of them now.
I'll probably get ME 3 on PC though, and Uncharted 3 on PS 3. I wonder how they'll improve the (stellar) co-op this time around...
Against all tyrants. What I would love to see is drop-in/drop-out campaign offline co-op for Uncharted 3. I mean, Drake and Sullivan are together early in the story. Imagine if a second player could turn on their controller and join as Sullivan, switching him from CPU-controlled to player-controlled on the fly. And could also drop out and have the game resume control of the character.
I doubt they'll do that, but it would be awesome.
yeah...about that... it's obvious they're going to bring elena. as for aeryn...sorry i meant chole only time will tell...
but honestly i want the story to have mor sulll he only appeared in thre levels in the last one and it's him that gets the biggest laughs
It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.Sully is the greatest, but he'll probably drop out early. I'm surprised he's back at all this time around, actually, since he dropped out last time because he was getting too old.
Against all tyrants. From what material I've read (which admittedly isn;t very much, and should be applied with a grain of salt dube) Sully's meant to have a far larger role in this story.
Can I get a heroic sacrifice?
And Elena's back. Emily Rose was doing "voice work" for a video game a while back, and all but confirmed it was Uncharted 3. Chloe, though... well, I'd really like her back. Claudia Black deserves more work.

Mass Effect 2 & Uncharted2 have garnered critical acclaim both inside and outside this wiki, and the VG As have announced the next chapters, Mass Effect 3 & Uncharted 3.
Are you excited, and do you feel like the ME 3 & U3 could improve on some faults or are you glad to get a new installment. I'm not saying their bad, but are you a bit sad or worried that the devolopers can't top their last installment?
