As you may know, we can rate reviews. The guideline is:
"Score this review. Not the thing being reviewed. This review. This isn't a poll about whether you agree or not, it is about the quality of the review. Is it well written, or funny, or make good points?"
The problem we have is that, in reality, the review scoring system is entirely a "poll about whether you agree or not". Pretty much any review that goes against the prevailing opinion gets a low score, and vice versa. For an example, look at the Fallout New Vegas reviews. There are 2, one positive and one negative, and one of them has a rating of -5 and the other +10. You can probably already guess which one has which rating. As far as I can tell (from having never played the game) neither one is particularly more well written than the other.
So there it is. I have no idea if it matters at all, but I figured I'd bring it up anyway.
