I thought for a while that it was just me, because I did tend to throw those tags around a bit. I didn't think I was being trollish with 'em, and I didn't get any warning PMs or anything.
But soft! What rock through yonder window breaks? It is a brick! And Juliet is out cold.*sigh* Well, we still have this, this, this, and a combination of all three. I think we'll figure something out.
But soft! What rock through yonder window breaks? It is a brick! And Juliet is out cold.Huh. Macro Zone's quote not that much fitting anymore. (It used to be bigger in text size.)
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!I think the large font won't be missed, but the small font, which indicates disemphasis, is harder to replace.
Maybe like this?
Infinite Tree: an experimental story
Idea: After the "[[color:" markup was disabled on the forum, new forum-only tags ("[[red:", "[[evil:", etc.) were implemented instead.
Would it be possible to make a pair of special forum-only tags (something like "[[large:" or "[[small:") that increase and decrease the text size by one level?

Yes, I think there were several legitimate uses for size tags. Besides the RP forums, where they were useful for whispering, I can see a few counterexamples from the wiki:
- Macro Zone's quote (as Marioguy pointed out)
- Portal's, well, portal (one of the most clever things I've seen yet on the wiki)
- Brian Blessed (YMMV of course, but it seems appropriate)
The latter two are still there to see as long as the pages don't get edited.

Productivity is for people without internet connections. -Count DorkuColor Character is a good example of the colour markup being used well.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI strongly encourage the admins to reconsider disabling the size markup.
We should at least have the ability to go one down and one up.
Examples of legitimate uses:
- Captions. Sometimes they line-break, producing widows and orphans. Size reduction fixes this in many instances and on most browsers.
- In-line quotations, e.g. next to a listed trope on a works page. This is very important. Sometimes (quite often in fact) a quote isn't large enough to go on its own example indentation.
Admins, please consider merely dis-advertising this format on the help pages, so that inexperienced editors do not abuse it.
I don't think I've ever seen a case of abuse, though. Apparently it's becoming the policy that all text on the wiki should look the same, regardless of format or placement on the page, which can be very hard on the eyes. That's why many real-life publications use font size adjustments for specialized usages.

My point exactly. Abuses may occur (and I think that nobody abused the size tags, anyway), but that doesn't mean the thing is the source of all evil in this world.
Also: now Brian Blessed sucks.
I ain't saying no showy crap like "later buddies" or something lame like that. I'll be back soon, you bozos!

Why not?
No one abused it (outside of possible accidental/intentional glitching of the title boxes), from what I know.
