I don't actually believe that Thor's character development was too forced. He was never that bad to begin with. He was boastful, and temperamental, but he knew the dangers of war. He simply believed it was inevitable and they had to strike first. He wasn't out to kill all the frost giants, he simply wanted to defeat their armies and put the fear in their hearts. Loki couldn't believe Thor had changed that much in four days, well he didn't change that much, that scene was as much about Thor's true colors as it was about Loki's.
Yes he was boastful and temperamental, but he was otherwise a nice guy. His character shouldn't have changed that much in four days, it didn't, he simply learned a lesson in humility. He went to Earth thinking he knew it all, he thought he could get his toys back, he thought knew his way home, he thought wrong. He didn't find his way home, he learned a little more about Earth people, he considered his father might have been right. Not to mention being responsible for your own father's death is a large lesson in humility and so is the revelation that there were traitors in his precious Asgard. He still has much to learn and admits it.
The movie's faults? The dialog in the Earth Scenes was a little awkward when they weren't joking and the destroyer fight that was hyped in the trailer was lame. They just left a giant construct of Uru on Midgard too! Why? The Asgard's abilities were underwhelming outside of Thor, Loki, Heimdal and Odin. The Frost Giants lost their main power source so at least they had an excuse. The Asgard in character though, were spot on. The warriors three are probably what makes Marvel Asgard a worthy alternate to mythological Asgard. Movie Asgard was as pretty as comic book Asgard too.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackI agree with Cider however it can kind of be justified, I mean he is a god. It may just be me, but I found most of the Aesir to have larger than life emotions and reactions. It's a flimsy argument, but it does kinda make sense
Theres sex and death and human grime in monochrome for one thin dime and at least the trains all run on time but they dont go anywhere.Saw the movie last night, enjoyed it a fair bit.
Given who I am, two major things nagged at me. One: the Aesir spent far too much time bare-headed. Huge stupid hats are a Kirby tradition, dammit... and I thought Loki actually looked significantly more menacing when he had his horned helmet on. Then again, I'm odd and I always did like Loki's stupid hat. Secondly: where the hell was Hogun's moustache?!? Is it really that hard to convince an actor to grow facial hair? Or even to wear a... prosthetic moustache, lip wig, whatever you call it? *grumble*
Outside of that... hrm. I spent a good deal of the movie wishing Natalie Portman would shut up so we could get back to the hammer-smashing, but less than I expected, so maybe the romance wasn't done as badly as I expected. Thor's development wasn't awful- it was a bit quick, aye, but you only have so much time to work with in a movie. The Destroyer was completely wussy compared to its comic version (seriously, from 'totally indestructible, can lay waste to Hel without even trying' to 'one smack with Mjolnir'? Seriously?), the Warriors Three didn't get nearly enough screentime, and some mention of Volstagg's huge family would've been cool (and the guy playing Volstagg the Voluminous was kind of skinny for the part- couldn't they have put a bit of padding on him?). The guy playing Fandral the Dashing nailed the part- I quite liked his performance, and he looked just right. Oh, and the Ice Giants were kind of puny. It was hard to take them too seriously as a threat :/
Why not? Some women have hypnoboobs; Chris Hemsworth has hypno-abs.

Watching Thor gave me some pretty new experiences that I've never felt before.
First of all, it was the first time I felt compelled to text during a movie out of boredom.
Second, it was the firs time I wanted to completely Draco in Leather Pants someone up because only the compelling character was the villain. Like, I could not care less about what happened to the title protagonist.
Lastly, it is the first time I've really wanted to see a crack ship - Loki and Darcy. Pretty much, I just chose my favorite male and female character and put them together. Surprisingly enough, it is not a Slash pairing because there are no other sympathetic male characters for me.
Yeah, this is really critical, but I just had to get my opinion out.
Yeah, I like how Sif was the first of Thor's friends to notice Loki manipulating him, with her concern over Loki rushing to tell Thor his "support" in the scene he decides to invade Johd-world. Then, later, Sif can barely keep up pretense at the sight of Loki as king. In every scene between them, she looks like she wants to grab Loki by the shirt and sucker punch him.

Saw it today, liked it. I did do one thing, though. Towards the end when Loki said "Is it madness? Is it?" I couldn't help but go "Madness? THIS! IS! ASGARD! then punch the air in front of me. Got a few other people laughing, I think.
Has anyone else noticed that the post-credits scene had Samuel L. Jackson opening a mysterious briefcase and revealing its contents?
After all these years, Pulp Fiction finally makes sense!

Hey guys, how much of Loki do you think was sincere?
Aside from loving his foster parents, how much do you think he was sincere about Thor? Such as Thor not being ready (he wasn't but did Loki do it for those reasons and not out of jealousy) or how "[he] love[d] Thor more than any of [them]" and so forth.

Well, I thought that even though he messed up the coronation "for fun," Loki's concerns about Thor taking over were sincere and justified. It seemed as though he really did want to please Odin, he just went about it the wrong way. I'm anxious to see what he's up to in The Avengers.

Looking for some stories?I think he could've been a good king, if he hadn't got caught up in manipulation and angst. He and Thor seemed like two halves of a whole, in that respect - Thor had the generous nature and leadership, while Loki had the political instincts. Odin was probably hoping that Loki would be Thor's backup and advisor when Thor became king.

Cool!
random: I love that Darcy/taser is a legit Cargo Ship.
