YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
When I saw there was activity in this thread, that wasn't what I was expecting, but I'm happy regardless.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyDisappointing, but in a year that's had less than stellar communication by certain companies, I'll give credit to the developers for being forthright and transparent.
Important update
regarding No More Heroes 3...
- Bad news: the game is getting delayed, no thanks to the pandemic.
- Good news: The team is getting back to work, making sure the game, prioritizing quality.
- More good news: Darick Robertson, famous for his comic book art (including for The Boys), and whom Suda51 is a big fan of, is joining the team to provide illustrations. And Grasshopper Manufacture will be posting some of that art on Twitter!
- Here's one

No surprise at all there. They already joked about a 2020 release, and there's no way they weren't affected by the pandemic.

I'm okay with the delay, because there's the Suda 51 interview where he states he doesn't want to overwork his team. He seems like a good manager, and this is as important a time as any.
So I'm willing to wait a bit (especially since I don't have a Switch yet, and am waiting until I've finished more of my backlog to get one).
Now if only Travis could be announced for Smash Bros, that's all I want.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyA hack and slash/beat em up with a lot of vulgar punk personality, that's an homage to, and a subversive take on, consumerism and shallow values... while successfully implementing some of those same things. The best part are the bosses, who are more or less a bunch of nihilistic killers full of regrets... Except Destroyman, who's a fucking lunatic, and the most likely recurring boss in the series.

The first game has a rating for it in Taiwan, I think. So it's possible they're coming.
Sounds like you'll like it.
I feel like you guys aren't preparing him enough gameplay-wise.
There's a fairly repetitive gameplay loop of "grind money, do mission (which is usually fairly repetitive hack and slashing in of itself), fight awesome/memorable boss" as well as a ton of mechanics that frankly are unnecessary.
Also some bitchin' T-shirts that I desperately wish I could own in real life.
... but yeah. Everything they've said is correct.
Also a cat.

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I didn't go into gameplay because as I thought about it, it's a bit more shallow than I'd remembered, and because it's not the point of the games. But I think that's part of what Travis Strikes Again was meant to rectify. IIRC, Suda said in an interview that part of that game was to give Travis a more rounded moveset (especially for things like Smash Bros, if he got in). Since I haven't yet played TSA, I don't know how much of it could be implemented into NMH 3.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI think the most distilled version of the game's gameplay, bosses, and themes is the Holly Summers level and boss fight:
Levels:
- Pretty repetitive hack, slash, and grapple, with occasional power ups to break things up a bit
- Travis is a simple man, with straight to the point motivations, but also a heavy case of This Loser Is You
- Needlessly vulgar and "graphic" to the point of self-parody, which is also echoed in its collectibles
Bosses:
- Both the bosses and Travis show a surprising amount of depth and being world-weary
- Almost everyone fights with weirdly unique weapons or abilities
- A deconstruction of some of that same appeal that brought us to the game, as a self-aware "we know we can like this stuff, but it's important to realize the humanity of it all"
Ok now explain the Speed Buster fight. That's still the weirdest part of the first game.

But if I had to be serious, um, that battle was about stepping out of another's shadow. also, it happened to be the first time he actually killed a woman, as Holly had called him out on.
But what really bugs me is why did she untransform her weapon only to immediately transform it again?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI wonder what he was doing for work before he was killing dudes and picking up scorpions.
He made enough to buy a "beam katana" off an Ebay parody, somehow.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyAlso, does anyone else feel Jeane's backstory implies she should be older than Travis?
The sad, REAL American dichotomy

The original game has been rated for the Nintendo Switch in Taiwan.
