[up][up] What he said.

This is one of the temptations that just has to come up at one point in a community's lifespan. It sounds like a good idea, but nothing good will come of it.

Edit: Seriously? How Did We Miss This One?!

[up] I think that's a subtrope (to wit, it wouldn't have made much sense if I'd said the OP was a Well-Intentioned Extremist; nobody suggested we choose the most disruptive troper of the month and execute them). Anyway let's not derail the thread... tongue

Thread has good intentions.

However, we work in a place where certain fandom are more vocal, dumb, etc. than the rest. I will really get sick if it's always TTGL or EVA getting the spot. So sadly, I'm not into it.

I doubt any works pages would even get nominated to begin with. Still, if you're really that worried about it, we could disqualify work pages from the awards or give them their own section.

Accidental mistakes are forgivable, intentional ones are not.

That's not the point. Honestly, what good or productive value do you expect to come from tropers giving out dubious honors for user activity and generated content? How does that actually sound like something that would be fun?

Like I already said, I (and I'm sure other tropers as well) don't create content here or pitch in on the fora to help out around the wiki for the sake of getting awards; I do it for love of the wiki. How would a handful of tropers deciding to shine a special light on one particular contribution out of over 80,000 other pages actually enhance the fun around here, and why isn't just making an honest contribution not satisfiable enough?

Because we don't have a page on every saying that has ever existed, ever? Seriously, is that even tropable? It might be an index containing Well-Intentioned Extremist, A Simple Plan, Three Is Company... hell, a metric buttload of sitcom tropes, to the extent that even as an index it might be too inclusive to be useful. /end derail

Something along the lines of Wikipedia's Featured Article concept might be a good idea though - something to show that "This is what we're looking for".

BTW, I'm a chick.

I like the idea in the initial post. Lets not make it personal that just gets ugly quick.

"Good intentions lead to disastrous consequences" is very much a trope.
