I wouldn't call Ridley a main villain, but he's definitely the closest thing Samus has to an arch-nemesis, what with his recurring appearances. Can't think of anyone from Metroid more fitting of being the second rep.

I believe they plan on changing moves later on- we've seen two shots of Luigi jumping on the 3Ds version and one was obviously changed to give Luigi the flutter jump. I think Sakurai has also said something about it?

Either way, those moves could be very different in the final game.

Prime 1 was more exploratory than directly villain-menaced. Meta Ridley is the second-last boss, but he kinda swoops in suddenly when you solve thr temple puzzle.

Three Zelda characters down, one more to go.

Here's hoping the final reveal is Ghirahim.

We notably haven't seen either of Link's Side B's.

However, Adult Link still is mainly in his TP outfit, so him still having a Boomerang while Toon Link does would make sense.

Sakurai's statements about movesets were only that they weren't finalized. May or may not mean a thing for Toon Link, or at least his specials. Twice, he's made Child Link having the same specials, which he does cite as a "rule". I hope he breaks it, but who knows?

Hey! Toon Link's in! Sweet! And another one down for the bingo card. That's another two in one line!

...Unfortunately that same line has two longshots. One of which is Wreck-It Ralph, the longest of longshots.

Oooh, Toon Link! I liked him in Brawl, but I hope his moveset resembles his games more.

Also, why do people have such vitriol towards wanting a playable Pacman?

No one's really cared about Pac-Man for nearly three decades, for one.

Boy, Peach just has no sense of personal space in this game.

Also, I'm really impressed by Toon Link's appearance. He wouldn't look that out of place in a claymation.

[up][up]No one's cared about ROB or Ice Climbers for decades either. And Pac-Man's far more remembered than either of them. Not to mention, he has actually gotten games since then, unlike them, including one this year.

In that case, most people didn't care very much about Sonic before Brawl either. Sure, he had games coming out, but very few people actually cared. The only reason people wanted him was because of the Nintendo/Sega rivalry from the '90s.

If I remember correctly, Pacman has a cartoon running at the moment, a new videogame and is playable in the latest arcade Mario Kart.

I'm not saying that I want him as a shoo-in, I'm just wondering why people think it's a bad idea to add him.

Wha?

Sonic has had a massive fanbase for ages. Even if they were "dormant" for a while, they still would've cared.

[up][up]There's also the question of what can he even do besides eat things? Pac-Man has stuff happening, but none of it is stuff people care much about. He's a leftover from the early '80s, too important to history to give up on but too bland to do anything interesting with.

I sure said that!

Sonic's fanbase is vocal not big. The prevailing opinion between 1999 or so and 2010/2011 was "Sonic sucks".

[up][up][up][up]Don't forget his inclusion as an Eldritch Abomination in Street Fighter X Tekken.

And yes, Sonic has a huge fanbase. Volatile it may be, Sonic still has a number of fans in his corner (including me).

That said, I wasn't expecting him in Brawl and I'm still not really expecting him in this 4th game.

[up]That's actually been discussed in both the Sonic threads here. There's seems to be a "Sonic Cycle" going on where every new game since Sonic 06 has been met with cynical derision until release, where opinions are generally more positive. It always happens and the most vocal of them seem to be the ones that believe Sonic hasn't recovered from 06s atrocities for years now.

[up][up]Why wouldn't you expect Sonic to return? They're still making Mario & Sonic Olympic games, they've got an exclusive deal with Nintendo right now, and Sonic games have been getting a better reception than they have in a long time.

Aside from the weirdness that was supposed to be Pacman in Street Fighter X Tekken, he has plenty of potential. Pacman 2 and Super Pacman gave him the ability to fly, he could use Pal from Pac n' Pal to steal items, the Pacman World series gives him plenty of melee attacks to work with and the upcoming game gives him a ton of new power ups.

@beorc: It's just me not trying to get my hopes up. I'd be pleased if he gets in, but I have this unexplainable nagging feeling that despite the fact that his chances are huge right now, I shouldn't anticipate it.

Okay, so he could be shoehorned in if the devs decided that including him was that important. The question is if they do.

I personally am guessing Sonic will come back almost certainly, and Snake seems reasonably likely despite his oddness.

Well, the whole reason Snake got in is because Kojima and Sakurai are buddies and Kojima wanted him in, so I figure unless the two of them had some kind of falling out, Snake'll probably stay around.
