I would be 100% on board with a sequel to Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door. That's one of my favorite games.
Also, I never really played as the Ice Climbers, so I don't really have much opinion on them.

Reaction Image Repository8-Player Smash getting consistent stage updates, despite the "technical limitations" that kept them from being playable initially, was just brought up barely a page ago.
That was in months' time; they have more than enough breathing room to figure out how to get them to work after over a year past release, especially when the other given reason for them being shoved aside was in fact prioritization combined with an apparent lack of time.
Now, if the actual realistic counterpoint was that he's not going to - especially when he could be dumping the rest of their money and resources into more Sony property cameos - then I see far less room for disagreement.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyAnd what reason would they have to be ignoring the other two-fifths of their $100 game?
Again, this isn't a case of "There isn't a way for them to work," but rather "A way for them to work hasn't been found." They have the time and evidently fan support (not that this stopped Roy anyway); all that's left is for Sakurai to get rid of this imaginary Ridley Corner that they got tossed into.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyThe issue with that is that Ice Climbers would only garner the attention of people that both play smash and liked the Ice Climbers enough to want them back.
I wouldn't mind them coming back, but the man power to make them is better spent on a new character that would get a lot more people's attention.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI don't know about you, but I kind of want the veterans to finish showing up before we get any more newcomers.
Call me narrow minded, but I like being in a familiar comfort zone.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerThe Ice Climbers shouldn't come back. And if they do, they need to be reworked to work on both systems.
I guess my issue is with not wanting console exclusive fighters. Sakurai has the right idea in keeping the rosters the same.
Still super hyped with Cloud though. I do wish Lightning would have been considered.
You can't get it wrong if it's the truth!I just feel like we've been getting a little too out there, you know? I feel like the series needs to keep revisiting its roots.
Ryu and Cloud are nice, but if the pattern keeps up, we'll have nothing but Dancing Bears.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerBesides, Lightning's famous for something else nowadays.

There ain't nothing wrong with that. In fact, the only reason I didn't play her game is because the boss fights are so DAMN HARD.
She's a great female character and one of my favorite heroines. It just sucks that I can't finish her game trilogy.
Cloud's pretty cool too though so I'm not complaining.
You can't get it wrong if it's the truth!I'd be more surprised if none of the following get in:
- Wolf
- King K. Rool
- Inkling
- Isaac
- Shantae
- Shovel Knight
- Paper Mario
- Sceptile
- A Dragon Quest Protagonist
- Ni GH Ts or Tails as a second Sega rep
- Lloyd Irving
- Snake
- Simon Belmont
- Bomberman
And the latter 3 are unlikely because they are owned by Konami, and I think Sceptile is unlikely because that would overload the roster with Pokemon. Paper Mario at least represents a sub-series like DK, Yoshi, Wario, and Diddy Kong do so I wouldn't count him as a main series Mario character.
Question: When did fighting games actually start dubbing voices for characters? I know definitely that at least until the mid 2000s they used Japanese seiyu for voices and didn't bother dubbing (sometimes we'd get subtitles like in Inu Yasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale, but other times we wouldn't like in Street Fighter 2 and 3, Smash 64 and Melee, and the first few Soul Calibur games). Marvel vs. Capcom zigzagged with English/Japanese V As...The Marvel characters had English VA's while the Capcom characters spoke in Japanese.
I know Street Fighter 2 has justification because voice acting in games wasn't a huge thing until the N64/PS 1 era. So, when did fighting games actually start doing dubs?

AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!That, and Sceptile isn't even an important pokémon.
Paper Mario, we already have Mario and Dr. Mario. We don't need a third Mario.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerIsaac is who I want to get in, Inkling is who I know is going to get in, and yet Sakurai's probably going to find some way to mix things up anyways.
I'm curious as to an Inkling mechanic would work. Such a large part of the game is spraying down ink, but there's no way to tell where you put down ink reliably because Smash is a 2.5D vertical fighting game.
Well, whenever I see a request for Sceptile, the reason usually amounts to nothing more than "he's a Grass-Type". Which, if you ask me, is a puh-retty flimsy reason.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerHm, I think Paper Mario could be a completely different take on Mario. All his moves, inspired by his games, could be un-clonish.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.

Because they were fun and unique to play as? Because it was neat to see Nintendo give recognition to one of their less prominent works?

Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.
