Only in multi-player or The Arenas, sadly.

Reaction Image RepositoryAlso, Dedede is like, the best character in Return to Dreamland. I break the arena with him so easily.

Oh, well I wasn't completely paying attention before.
That makes more sense at that age.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Ah, youth. I remember that I got into Smash when I was 10 (Too young to fully comprehend Melee when it came out and too young to play games when 64 came out, though I saw copies of Melee before Brawl so I knew the Smash Bros name and the fact that it had Mario, Peach, Pikachu, DK, Yoshi, and Bowser in it). I first played as Bowser in Classic Mode. Though I was mostly sticking to Snake and Sonic even then (with dabbling into the Star Fox crew, Captain Falcon, and Lucario).
It's funny how I'm way more open with these games than I was when I first started.
AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!I had no clue who Link, Captain Falcon, Ness, and Fox were, but I recognized everyone else.
Then Melee came, introducing Zelda, Sheik, Ganondork, Young Link, Ice Climbers, Marth, and Roy, whom I had no idea about.
By Brawl the only newcomers I didn't recognize were Lucas, Ike, and Snake. I had boned up on Zelda lore enough to recognize Toon Link, but I still hadn't played an actual Zelda game yet.
Smash Four I didn't really know Robin, Lucina, or Shulk, but had some knowledge on them due to internet osmosis. I had gotten and played Awakening almost immediately after Robin's trailer though.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Smash 64 is one of my earliest memories. I remember trying to defeat Master Hand by making him go too far offscreen with Yoshi. I didn't even know how to do any attacks other than his Egg Lay.

Call me butter, because I am on a roll! 3ds friend code: 5258-0885-3903 Wii U: Bowser CharizardI remember when I learned to do Lucario's fair, fair, dair combo in Brawl. It was like my Awakening.
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes! My first exposure to Smash was at a family gathering when I found some family members of mine playing 64. Not unlike Full Moon, I only recognized Mario and Pikachu (I didn't even know who Yoshi or Link were!) and had no idea what was going on.
I pretty much ignored Smash until some kids started bringing Brawl to kid gatherings at church, and...well, the rest is history.
"I'm glad I don't wear shoes or else I'd have to always get shoes in two different sizes. ...If you know, you know!"I started on 64, but Melee was the first one I actually owned. When I first started playing I had no idea how the specials worked, so I alternated between button mashing and figuring out one or two attacks and spamming them.
Reaction Image RepositoryJust for fun, I made a revised idea of what a Cloud-focused Guidance might be like.
Pit: Viridi? What's wrong?
Viridi: "What's wrong"? "What's wrong"? Just look at the guy you're fighting!
Pit: What, is something wrong with Cloud?
Viridi: Ugh. You probably don't have the refined senses to even see it. For your information, little angel, that human you're fighting is covered in planetary life force! Urgh. It's like he's drenched in blood. My blood! It's just disgusting!
Palutena: Well, it's true that Cloud has been enhanced beyond normal human limits, due to being injected with Mako energy extracted from the planet.
Viridi: You see! Just like a human! I'll bet that's why he's even capable of wielding that stupidly heavy sword.
Palutena: However, he also became a member of the anti-Mako fighting force AVALANCHE.
Viridi: But-
Palutena: He wound up fighting against the company that gave him his power, so that he could stop them from hurting the planet any more than they had.
Viridi: ...Well... it's still gross. He should take a shower or something. I need to go lie down.
Pit: Um... anyway. Got any advice for fighting this guy?
Palutena: Oh, right! Well, like I said, Cloud can go beyond human limits. When he performs his Limit Break, watch out; all his attacks will be faster, longer, and stronger than before. But he's still most suited to close-range combat, so keep him at a distance with your arrows. Just remember to block his Blade Beam with your Guardian Orbitars.
Pit: Right! This one's in the bag! I've wielded bigger swords than his before!
Palutena: But you had to wield them as clubs.
Pit: But I still wielded them, though.
Palutena: With both hands. Maybe you should ask Magnus for help with technique.
Pit: Yeah, yeah...
My first SSB game was Brawl (also my first fighting game), I played SSB 64 second, but owned Melee second. That's because I was at my second cousins' place and they had SSB 64 and an N64. It wasn't until summer 2008 when I owned SSB 64, while I had owned Melee since April 2008.
Then came SSB 3DS on October 3rd (got it on that day), and the first weekend of December saw me getting SSB Wii U.
AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!I knew pretty much everyone except for Ness and Captain Falcon. I had heard of Samus, but hadn't played any Metroid games at that point, though.
