Seriously, that was only NoA, not Nintendo as a whole, and these days NoA's done a total about-face and is actively adding sex jokes and Ho Yay to localized works. It's not super up-front about, but Fire Emblem Awakening is plain filthy on occasion.

I sure said that!Marie loves that cylinder of meat.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.I've played a bit of Phantom Brave on Wii. And I really doubt Marona would cause any trouble summoning phantoms as part of her specials or FS, working it into her skill set might be tricky though...
Having an (effective) army wielding pots, shrubberies, signposts, logs and fish is hilarious though, wouldn't mind seeing more of that in Smash
I doubt Nintendo would mind necromancy.
Speaking as a Kirby fan, especially....
Speaking of, still have my fingers crossed for Magolor.

@the last page: I love Duck Hunt. He's just so quirky. I even roleplay as him; I portray him as a cuddly, puppy-minded goofball.
@this page: I personally think Sak's gonna focus more on the intended demographic of little kids than the Vocal Minority for the next DLC characters. This won't necessarily be a bad thing; it's just that I wouldn't get my hopes up for more characters whose relevance faded out over a decade before most of the playerbase was born.
I mean... Even if it wasn't for his other unusual circumstances, Cloud was a shock for this reason alone. None of the intended audience would possibly know who he is.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — Ultimatepheer...Where do you get the idea that Smash is intended for children? Family friendly =/= for the children. To say that the last few DLC characters will be for kids would make no sense.
@Castlevania: Could've sworn I saw somewhere that Capcom made Castlevania, but eh whatever. Never played the series. But it being Konami is another can of worms.

How old were you when you picked up your first Smash game?
Because I was five.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — Ultimatepheer9, but why does that matter? The game is explicitly marketed to everyone. Not just kids. Do kids make up a large portion of the market that can't be ignored? Yes, but that doesn't mean that everything is marketed towards them.
This just sounds like you trying to argue the old "Nintendo is for kids" argument. Which, while they do make a lot of kid-friendly games, that doesn't mean that they're the target market.
I don't know, because Nintendo's fanbase is a pretty closed circuit. I haven't seen a single Nintendo fan who hasn't grown up being a Nintendo fan.
That's the company's primary weakness. They only know how to deal with people who grow up with them and ensure that as many do as they can.

The problem with it is irrelevant to the discussion and way too complicated to compile off the top of my head.
I'm just saying we should expect more characters popular with younger audiences moreso than us, because we're not that important to them.

We've gotten our share already is what I'm trying to say.

Nah, if you wanted a Nippon Ichi character, you'd go for Marona. She would summon a variety of units to attack people for her, such as by whacking fighters with trolleys.
