I just looked up the trailer, and all I could think about at the end...

This thread, after the Cloud reveal.

Anyway, rather meh on Cloud. I don't follow Final Fantasy so I only know what I've absorbed via pop culture osmosis. I'll buy him, of course, because he looks fun to play as, but I'm more excited by the news that we're getting a Smash direct next month.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I was hoping for the Inklings being the character reveal, but I'm fine with Cloud despite the fact that I feel like FF 7 is kind of overrated. There's still the December Direct anyway.
Honestly, even in the cynical sense, this should come across as more Crosses the Line Twice than anything else.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyI think Snake, Pac Man, and Ryu have proven that you don't really need to have a big relevance on Nintendo consoles to get into Smash. Really, only Sonic and Mega Man have relevance to Nintendo systems these days.
What FF tracks you think will be in Smash? I'm only hoping for One Winged Angel.
AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!
Well, SFII was primarily on the SNES, and Pac Man was Miyamoto's direct inspiration...
Not trying to argue against you. Just playing devil's advocate a bit.

Battle!- VII and Strong Foe- VII are both already confirmed, and I'd be surprised if One Winged Angel and J-E-N-O-V-A don't make the cut. Electric de Chocobo also strikes me as likely.
If it were up to me, there'd be Clash on the Big Bridge, too, but I'm not entirely convinced Smash will acknowledge there were ever any FF games besides VII, like how the only things Ryu has that aren't from SFII are his Down Special and one of his Final Smashes.

I sure said that! You know, I kind of wish they went with "Omnislash Version 5/6" instead of the original one, just so we can get more of a visual difference from all the other Blade Spam Final Smashes there already are in Smash 4.
For those that don't know, Version 5/6 is from the Advent Children movie, where Cloud's alt costume is from. It basically involved him splitting his AC swordnote and performing Omnislash using every sword.
I mean, it's still the same attack, but using multiple swords would at least look different. :b Especially since Cloud does dashing strikes instead of just frenzied slashes, at least in the movie.
As for music, I'm expecting mostly VII themes plus the FF Overture from the first game. I'm looking forward to the remixes though.

FF 1-6 were on nintendo consoles first, so there is history there... Though that does make it kind of funny that the "Iconic FF character" that gets in Smash is from the first game that DIDN'T get on a Nintendo system. But oh well. He probably is (one of) the most easily recognized characters for the franchise to non-FF fans.
I did notice that the Omnislash in this game looks VERY similar to the version
used in Dissidia. Wonder if that was on purpose.

When things go horribly right there it's a spectacle to behold. I remember once a series of six different posters, from the OP on, managed to successfully complete a chain of "Who, What, When, Where, Why, How" uninterrupted and people collectively lost their shit at the achievement.
