Dark Link with red eyes has always been something...Dark Toon however has not.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. My only complaint with alts is the severe lack of Dry Bowser and no shiny alts for Charizard, Mewtwo, and Lucario. Although Shadow Mewtwo alt kinda makes up for that.
Call me butter, because I am on a roll! 3ds friend code: 5258-0885-3903 Wii U: Bowser Charizard![]()
Charizard's purple alt is actually a reference to its Gen II shiny coloration...it's better than nothing, if you ask me.
Actually, I do believe Smash is exempt from TPC's strictness with its characters. They're just not usually allowed in other games.

Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.Nope. TPC created issues with amiibos, and they're the reason why we don't have shiny colorations in Smash (Because TPC has copywrite on shiny colors as well). It's restricted to Pikachu and Jiggs because their shiny colors were in past smash games. Greninja is technically not shiny because of orange tongue.

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeProject M had really cool ideas for alternate costumes for each character, like Armored Mewtwo and Dry Bowser.
So, if other electric type rodents were Pikachu's other color costumes, which would they be? Raichu, Pichu, Pachirisu, Dedenne, Emolga, Plusle & Minun? Or some of those and their shinies?

And the normal-colored underbelly for Greninja. (And Jigglypuff doesn't even have its shiny colors this time around. It did in Brawl, but not here.)
I think it says something that for how lenient TPC is with Pokémon stuff in Smash in general, there's still issues that frequently crop up because of their policies.
Detour question, is anyone else curious what all the Pokémon were that were on the list Sakurai was given? Apparently he was supposed to select from a group of them which one should be playable, and almost instantly went with Greninja.
Normal Pikachu, Raichu colors, Emolga colors, Pachirisu colors, Plusle colors, Minun colors, Electrike colors, and Shinx colors.

I beg to disagree. Ridley's best fights in Metroid games are those where he isn't gargantuan anyway, and size is not a main component of the character when compared with other Metroid bosses.
But then again, memetic thinking is a thing.
The picture does nothing for the argument considering the fact that bowser's fully stretched out and ridley is hunched over with his arms back and tail curled up.
Even in that picture, which is your argument on why he isn't too big, he's too big.

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeDonkey Kong is also in that position. If fully stretched out, he'd be "larger" than Bowser. Also, that is a canon posture for Ridley, curled up and extending when attacking.
Have you ever seen a bird skeleton? Femur held horizontally, long neck in a S-shape, wings folded. Why would a birdlike creature have to adopt a humanlike posture?

Luigi is not that much smaller than Samus in Sm4sh.
Like Mewtwo you say? Lightweight large target is a very effective negative trait in Smash...

You know, if he's only small enough to fit when crouched, then why not make that part of his style?
Just have this cramped up beast, but most attacks it stretches a limb out for a surprisingly long-ranged attack.
Balance for that could include the lack of disointed hitboxes during these attacks, so if you predict what attack he's gonna do you can punish from a distance.
As for speed vs power, there's no reason they can't be split among Ridley's moves, some of them being quick strikes that aren't terribly strong, and some slow moves that aren't terribly fast. That or make the claws/tail tip/other thing be a sweetspot.
Sonic's supposed to be three feet tall?
...then what the hell is with literally any human being in the Sonic universe?
...anyways, I think size only matters relative to other elements from the same universe as a given character. Hence why Kirby and co. don't look out of place, and Olimar's back to actual size when he's throwing down in the Garden of Hope.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaSonic's shorter than most adult humans, mang.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Horizontal spine and horizontal femur is a couched position for a human, but it is a standard position for other bipedal creatures. Ridley never stands in a humanlike posture, because he stands like a bird with ape arms. Birds look like couching when in a standard position
◊, but that's because we have trouble processing our posture is a quite aberrant one as far as vertebrates go (hence our chronic backaches and the tendency to break our hips).
And, again, 2D Ridley with its 3D proportions only needs a slight size ajustment to not feel gigantic. Otherwise, size is only an issue if fully extended, but you don't say a bearded vulture is larger than a human, don't you?
As for Sonic, he usually is hip height next to humans; although the deformed humans from Unleashed on are shorter than actual people.

So why are there a lot of plain alternately colored Toon Links, and then a single one with demonic red eyes?
