Any competitive scene where the top players have absolute power over the rules (and don't pretend they don't) is not a healthy competitive scene at all.
Dude. Settle down, please. You're sounding legitimately paranoid right now. I don't know if there is some dubious business going on in the back rooms or what, but I'm pretty sure top players don't have "absolute power". Using that word makes it seem like some sort of dictatorship. Even if there is power abuse going on, that's blowing it way out of proportion. What is "profit-driven" even supposed to mean? Like, okay, big name players might want to keep winning tournaments, but they're not the ones who decide the rules on their own. What's in it for everyone else with a say in the rules who follows their lead? Did Zero just bribe them all or something? Doesn't that sound ridiculous?
But mostly, please don't accuse people of "pretending" like what you're saying isn't the gospel truth, as if it was so obvious that everyone who disagrees with you must be involved in their nefarious schemes or something. That's just beyond disrespectful and makes it impossible to have a conversation because you'll just be thinking that everyone is against you for the sake of being against you and you're the one noble defender of the truth or something.
Like. Please take a step back and think about what you're doing here. We're talking about a game here. It's just a game.
I am paranoid.
I only follow the competitive scene at all because I'm sick of the laughing and threats.
This is the most toxic fandom I've ever been in (NOT talking about this thread or site), and there's no escape. What am I supposed to do, not touch the game at all?

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerAvoid the competitive discussion then? You can still enjoy the game without paying attention to it. Right now, you're just ranting about everything competitive without even trying to listen to reason.
Also, there is some validity in banning/excluding certain omega stages. Contrary to popular belief, they are not just reskins of FD. Some have closer/farther blast zones, others have walls on the bottom sides of platforms.
If that's an all too big step, start by just not hanging out in any Smash Bros places but this one, since you apparently consider it okay. Maybe kindly ask people not to import drama if the daily obligatory casual vs. competitive rigmarole gets too intense.
But honestly though, if you're so strongly affected by something like this, it seems to me like there are other areas in your life giving you difficulties that either make you focus too much on the game as the content of your life, or make you feel so hurt that even the drama in some videogame fandom, which really shouldn't be that important, makes you lash out in pain. Like... trust me, I've been there. I've honestly been spending the last couple of years slowly trying to build some sort of identity and purpose for myself in real life because I've been using digital socialization like discussions in this thread as a weak replacement for actually fulfilling interactions with people. It fucks you up in the long run, and the only reason I still come here is because I still wouldn't know what else to do with myself all day as long as my health issues aren't taken care of. But hey, I'm working hard to solve that problem.
Point is, it's hard, but if you're suffering in the situation you're in, you have to keep trying to find a way out of it. You've just gotta do it.
Most certainly never gonna happen. Lucina was included into Smash because she was an easy idea for a clone character and was never going to make it in otherwise.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!Which is a shame, because she has the potential to play differently from Marth, especially since in her own game she doesn't even fight like Marth; she fights like Chrom, whose swordplay is rather bashy and rough, not elegant.
Giving her a lance in addition to her sword would be nice, though it'd look kinda silly for her to be switching between the two. Where does she keep one when not using the other?
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!![]()
That is true, but look at Roy. Not only did he return despite being from an old game, he got massively reworked and completely differentiated from Marth. It's not infeasible that Lucina will get the same treatment, especially since unlike Roy she's very popular outside of Smash Bros.
I'm personally not a fan of alternate costumes being entirely different characters from the original (As such, not a big fan of Alph and the Koopalings as a result, though the latter are more forgivable since you're playing as the clown copter basically), so I'd be somewhat disappointed to see her relegated to Marth costume.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Even if she wasn't, again, Roy.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyI don't doubt her return. At worst she'll be demoted to costume, since that'd be very easy to make and would please people who sorta liked her. But I'm personally hoping she gets Luigified.
Same with Dark Pit. Dr. Mario's likely to remain unchanged, which is fine, so long as they buff him.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I disagree with Bleye on customs, but damn, that discussion about bans and the top players was stupid. Anyway, I fully and wholeheartedly support anything that adds, improves or differentiates FE characters. Lucina really deserves a rework. Then again, assuming you go for more FE stuff in the first place (which is kind of a dubious proposition — they're tied for amount of characters with Zelda, which is one of the most iconic franchises in gaming, and FE isn't that popular), I'd rather they add more stuff from Jugdral, Magvel and Elibe.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Eh, they're both pretty similar in that respect; largely disliked in terms of gameplay and general concept in their original SSB entries, yet continued to stay somewhat relevant as a stereotypical fanfic writer's wet dream.
Regardless, though, the point remains that Samurai loves him some sword lords and Grandfather Clauses.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyRoy isn't very well-liked in the FE franchise on account of sucking as a unit and being bland as a character. Not really hated, mind you, but he has less fans that most of the other lords. People wanted him back from Melee due to nostalgia factor, even though he sucked there too. Lucina, by contrast, is very popular with the FE fandom at large, and a great unit to boot.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I know we love talking about Jet Hammer but just specifying that fully-charged Jet Hammer has a low swinging arc that will hit any character hanging on the edge.
Also the full set-up is up-tilt gordo and Jet Hammer. Timing the gordo right puts an enemy grabbing the edge into a situation where jumping goes face-first into gordo, or holding the ledge risks your invincibility frames and getting hit by the gordo as it falls off. This leaves you with only a couple options, none of which are good: stand up normally, which gives Jet Hammer an easy hit; attack, which will either get you hit by the gordo if not timed right, or Dedede will stay out of your range and approach, and thus Jet Hammer; roll back on the stage, which again, gives Dedede the option to turn around and hit you in the other direction.
When set up right, it's a horrible position that can very easily take a stock, well worth taking 1 point of damage or so while the enemy makes a decision. It's a huge pressure, as the longer you wait, the more likely a Jet Hammer will kill.
Also the fact that it was thought that turning and jumping down the ledge was a viable option? That only shows that people don't know how Dedede works. Doing that will guarantee your death.
I'm pretty sure the concept of Law having limits was a translation error. -WanderlustwarriorHer sheath when she's using a lance, her back when using the Falchion. Shulk has the Monado strapped to his back (somehow...) whenever he's not using it.

No, this argument in it's entirely is why I don't bother with it.
