I'm not saying I don't support him. I just find it funny that he was confirmed so early when he was a last-minute addition to two games in a row.
Yes, I am referring to Toon Link and Young Link as the same character. Stop kidding yourselves by saying they aren't.

By that logic Link and Link are different characters, because one is the Oo T one, and the other the TP one.

That's true. The Link in Melee and the Link in Brawl are not the same Link, due to being based off of different games. The character is still Link though. They both play relatively the same as each other. You can't say that Toon Link is nearly the exact same character as Young Link though. The only reason people think that is because they're both younger Links, and "clones" of regular Link.

And of course we aren't allowed to be spared from any of this because Sakurai couldn't be bothered to treat one returning character the same way he treats all the others.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyWell yes, having three Links around would only stoke the flames if anything.
I was referring to calling the newer young Link Young Link and being done with it. Especially when the "previous" Young Link is lower than Pichu tier as far as desirable veterans are concerned.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyLegend of Zelda uses two versions of Link, depending on what they find most appropriate to the game: child Link or adult Link. Young/Toon Link and Link thus represent the concept of child Link and adult Link in the Zelda series respectively in Super Smash Bros., not any specific Zelda game in particular.
That said, Young Link is a clone of Link, having a tweaked version of Link's moveset. When Brawl came around, Sakurai probably wanted to luigify Young Link in a similiar vein to Luigi, Falco, Ganondorf, etc. (and most likely with Roy too: It's probably why Roy's back as DLC in Smash 4... there's probably some hints that this was supposed to happen with Dr. Mario back then too like giving vanilla Mario the FLUDD as a special move), but since Brawl gave Link the Twilight Princess design, Sakurai likely didn't want to use the OOT design again. Toon Link probably had the perfect design for an evolved "child Link" and making the two Links more distinct.

Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!Yeah, exactly. Just like Melee Falco and Brawl Falco play completely differently, Toon Link plays how Young Link most likely would have if he'd returned.

Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.... Well realistically speaking, it'd be like doing a down tilt. Don't press control stick all the way when doing the attack. Alternatively, use c-stick if it's set for attacks, or improve your timing when pressing attack with a direction to make them simultaneous.
I'm pretty sure the concept of Law having limits was a translation error. -WanderlustwarriorI use Quick Draw a lot with Ike to maneuver, including from offstage. And against this one Toon Link who kept just jumping above me and spamming D-air, well... let's just say: "Toro! Toro! Olé!"

That was to coincide with the release of The Wind Waker HD in Japan.
To be fair, though, Toon Link does have some moves that are completely different from Link's, and his custom moves are different as well.
