One thing I always seem to screw up is after I break a shield I just can't stand back at just the right distance to nail them with a smash attack: I dash between to close and to far, sliding right over the good spot each time.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonI'm not saying that being too close or too far doesn't happen to me, but I usually just stay in the same spot after breaking someone's shield because most of the time it's tipped when I break it. I usually prefer using Shield Breaker again over the forward smash, though.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.I had a complete control of a fight in Smash with my friend.
He was using his favorite Link strategy, but I used Roy's counter to trip him up. And since he didn't figure out that his strategy wasn't working, he got his ass kicked most of the times he tried to spin attack me in the air.
AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!Practicing my edge guarding against them is useless because the F-airs go right through them and they always do the perfect approach to the ledge, meaning no down smashes or Shield Breakers to keep them away. I also have had countless times where a nice tippered F-smash would have landed a sure hit on a CPU if they didn't shield at the precise right moment, which they always do.
How should I practice to play against humans? Coordinating things with my friends is impossible and my Internet sucks as of now.

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonStick them in a custom stage with lava above a regular platform and watch as they keep landing in the lava, trying to get to that platfrom below it.
Good job CPU.
But yeah, Lv 9 CPU cheats. Perfectly timed footstools even to save their own kinds ass if a human player is about to get a KO.
Yeah, they fucking Gang Up on the Human even in free for alls outside of Classic.
An amiibo can be sort of like a human. Having 1 v 1 mirror matches makes them pickup on your habits. Though eventually they'll become a better version of yourself...

Do you guys like playing against human opponents, in local multiplayer, in Smash?
It depends on the player for me. like some people can be flat out dickish to me (like deliberately going after me like my friend did today), or those that flat out camp (one of my other friends when he is Robin) or use the same moves when I counter them (the match I just described with the first friend being Link and me being Roy).
AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!It's usually very fun, but like last night two of my friends would only ever team up on me, so I had no way of winning despite being the best player of all my friends.
(It also didn't help that we were playing Turbo mode on Project M, and one of my friends would only grab-spam as Ice Climbers).

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeThe AI cheats, yeah, but they kinda need it. Even at level 9 they simply cannot compete with the decision making and fluidity that a human has. I've seen level 9's self-destruct or stand around letting you smack them just as often as I see them coordinating footstool jumps or perfectly dodging everything.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I love playing with my friends, because we're all around the same skill level. My best friend is a Ness main who loves to spam and is super predictable, while I'm a clueless noob an MLG badass. Much fun is had by all.

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonThis is a few pages late, but in terms of songs that should've been included, definitely Unfinished Battle.
It only played once in the actual game, but it's an amazing song, and Smash would've been a good place to show it off.
Also, seconding Zinnia's battle theme, because that was a gorgeous song.
You won't go too far if you keep playing against level 9 CPUs or people on For Glory.
That's why the best option is always to have friends.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy. If you have no option but to train against CP Us, then set them to level 8. That way, they're still challenging without being overly bullshit.
I agree. Lv. 9 CPU's play way too perfect to possibly be good for practicing.

This isn't a pro, MLG gaming tip, but don't think about it, I guess? Just focus on Smashing as much as possible, and at least one out of 5 shots will be a tipper.
