Shrug. Lots of people default to her, but I played Awakening as a male Robin and use his black-haired alt, so for me it's a he. Folt will probably tell you all about the reasoning behind considering Robin canonically male if you let him.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Sometimes I feel like Fates was made primarily to calm down people who were pissed about Robin getting in instead of Chrom.
- Fanbase: "But he's not even the main character!"
- Nintendo: *makes a game where he is unambiguously the sole main character*

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerMale Robin is rather clearly used as the default Robin within the context of Smash. The trophy, character select screen, and default costume all use the male one. The female one just got an official render on the site and a bit more fanfare than the male WFT and alt Villagers.
Like all special alt costumes, though, female Robin can show up in All-Star Mode replacing male Robin.
I don't see why it's such a point of contention besides andro/gynocentrism, however. Being the default option doesn't really mean squat since the game never forces you to use that.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Does Robin really have a lot of "worsts?" I mean maybe the pummel is that bad, but I've never played Robin and felt like I was at a disadvantage immediately. I know it can be difficult keeping momentum but it's always seemed like Robin has had a lot of tricks to use.
I'm pretty sure the concept of Law having limits was a translation error. -Wanderlustwarrior
Second-party. Third means completely unaffiliated. No matter the developer, Nintendo's got FE primarily under its thumb.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerFor what it's worth, Robin is available on Fates as a DLC character and is exclusively male, as is his special class.
Anyway, Smash Robin. Yeah, it's not immediately apparent, but Robin has several notable flaws — worst running speed after Jigglypuff (and doesn't have her aerial mobility), awful grab range and endlag, worst pummel, poor frame data in general. In things like weight, aerial mobility and tilts he's average. He excels at smashes (in power, at least), aerials and especially his specials (hue). But you can't go in guns blazing spamming smashes and projectiles and expect to do well with him, you have to learn to use his tools and options (including dropped tomes and swords) in order to patch up his weaknesses. He's not a spammy character like Link or a powerhouse like Ganondorf.
Lucina gets the Lord line all to herself as well; it has nothing to do with Robin specifically.

Technically that's the Nohr side of the coin, but yes.
In Japan, it's been out for a month.
Also, most of the stuff discussed here revolved around pre-release information.
And, the fact that alternate skins didn't get their own amiibo variants was a bad move. Palette swaps I get it, but come on, Koopaling figurines? Female Robin? Overalls Wario?
Come the fuck on.

In Japan, yes.
We've got 'til at least Q1 2016 for an English release, though. Similar will probably end up being true for SMT X FE, too.
No that it matters much- Most of those wouldn't be stocked by shops because amiibo are assumed to be toys and as such only the super-broad kid-appeal stuff is manufactured and stocked commonly. It's why Peach is flippin' everywhere and Captain Falcon is AWOL.

I sure said that!I would definitely buy Female Robin, and maybe overalls Wario. I'd like to see how Wireframe Mac would look as an amiibo.
And honestly Robin's amiibo being the Male one is the only reason why I refuse to get their amiibo. I can't stand the Male version for some reason. It might be his voice.
Also, I remember someone on the amiibo thread here saying that all the figures we are getting should be uncommon at worst, with the gender (Female!Robin, Female!Villager, Male!WFT), character (Koopalings and Alph), and costume (Overalls Wario, Swimsuit Shulk, Swimsuit ZSS, Pink Hoodie Mac, and Wireframe Mac) alts being rare. Someone at Nintendo should have realized that they do have a massive adult fanbase that would buy figures of Star Fox/F-Zero/Punch-Kid Icarus/Pikmin (Which IS well known by teenagers of today who grew up with the Game Cube)/Fire Emblem/MOTHER characters in addition to Mario/Zelda/Kirby/Pokemon characters.
The fact that I'm gonna have to import from Japan or flat out order from Amazon (the cases of Yoshi, Charizard, and Wario) is a bad sign of how scarce several figures are in my area alone, and the US by extension.
AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!

I often pummel. Even with Bowser. It tend to spam the grab button when I grab, so I always end up doing at least one.
