The post I was responding to was in fact making a point as to how much sense it makes.
The simple answer to all of this is that a character got dicked over (again) because Sakurai, with quite possibly no second opinions taken into account, thought it'd be within everyone's best interests to do so. I have no clue what it is with this thread and everywhere else's devoted attempts to divert blame away from the franchise's director whenever something negative pops up, but ever since 4 has released it's gotten truly tiresome.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyApparently downloaded/shared stages only show up for the user who downloaded it now.
I really hope this means the 94 hard-limit's been relaxed, but I doubt it. I'm gonna test it later.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerYes, they were saying it makes sense.
Thing is, they were saying it makes sense because Mewtwo's stats are, for a Legendary, slanted heavily in favor of Special Attack and speed. Your rebuttal was a comparison to Charizard's and Lucario's stats. Which, while a totally valid point, isn't exactly the point they were on about. Like, if they'd said "Mewtwo's defenive stats are the worst among the Pokemon in Smash", that'd be outright incorrect for the reasons shown in your link.
Of course, I personally think that a Smash pokemon's weight should be based on their weight, not defense.
Which of course brings to mind the kind of hilrious juxtaposition of Smash Rosalina (floaty, sort of lightweight) to Mario Kart Rosalina (same weight class as Bowser).
Idle thought. I wonder what the playable Pokemons' stats would look like if their base stat totals were made the same, while keeping their personal ratios intact.

I have a message from another time...Well, Pikachu and Jigglypuff are FAR below the other 4 (Charizard has a stat total about twice of Jigglypuff's, and Mewtwo is a tad over twice Pikachu's).
The average base stat total among Smash Pokemon would be 476 (for example, Manectric has 475, and so did Raichu until this gen bumped it up to 485). And their distributions would be the following, more or less:
- Pikachu: 52 HP/82 Atk/60 Def/74 Sp Atk/74 Sp Def/134 Speed
- Charizard: 69 HP/75 Atk/69 Def/97 Sp Atk/76 Sp Def/89 Speed
- Jigglypuff: 203 HP/79 Atk/35 Def/79 Sp Atk/44 Sp Def/35 Speed
- Mewtwo: 74 HP/77 Atk/63 Def/107 Sp Atk/63 Sp Def/91 Speed
- Lucario: 63 HP/100 Atk/63 Def/104 Sp Atk/63 Sp Def/82 Speed
- Greninja: 65 HP/85 Atk/60 Def/92 Sp Atk/64 Sp Def/110 Speed
So yeah.

What's Confusion even supposed to do? Even if it hits, the opponent can and will attack before the end of the animation.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerThe sole other function of Confusion is that it helps for horizontal recovery and general navigation in midair.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guy... can I just say
It's justified to make Mewtwo a lightweight. Just not that much of a lightweight. Is what I was saying.
I guess the "balance" is that a fully charged beam is pretty deadly at even low percentages, flies far, and can come out quickly, but I don't think anyone has that hard of a time avoiding it, or interrupting it.
... of course, none of that explains why even with all the drawbacks everything about her is still so weak.
Oh man you're right
god, imagine if they made another metallic character who can shoot deadly lasers that move at great speed and can be aimed anywhere and has a chargeable projectile that can be tossed as an item and has the power to KO and actually has decent melee moves as well
that would be ridiculous
I'm just messing with you Pulse i love you

He got the Speed (at least for running) right for Charizard vs Pikachu; Zard is faster in Pokemon.
