Hopefully a Soul series character and Tails, respectively, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high...
The former because Link was in SC 2, and it's about time to return the favor. The latter because he was part of the EGM hoax that made people demand Sonic be in in the first place.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerSomeone modded the game to give Marth a Chrom skin.
It seems to work pretty well, aside from the whole leg issue and the absurd hitbox on his attacks.
I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this before, but I wonder how modding will affect amiibo and Global Smash Power.
I miss you.Nintendo will probably delete any modders' NNIDs as soon as they're spotted.
That's the disadvantage to it being such an internet-heavy console generation.

This isn't the first time Wii U modding's shown up. None of it has ever effected multiplayer though. The most that's happened to any of them is the Splatoon guy had his Miiverse banned, presumably for showing what he was doing on there.
Also, a few people have already been able to spoof amiibos. They can only imitate an initial scan, nothing else.
Not so much a system update as a game update. A system update would make it more difficult to access whatever was used to hack the game, but if it's an exploit a la Smash Stack for Brawl, only a game update would make it inaccessible — and even then, update data isn't written to discs, but rather to the system and can be removed.
