[up]He's already been doing the latter for the past several months. And in any case, I think I can speak on behalf of many when I say it's much preferable to him axing yet another well-liked veteran for literally no given (let alone "good") reason.

Wolf has been pretty consistently at the top of most polls I've seen (along with K Rool, Isaac, Rayman, and Dixie Kong). I'd say he still has a pretty good shot to make it in.

I would much rather see more new-comers than veterans, but I'm not going to be upset if Wolf makes it in. (And if they somehow can bring back the Ice Climbers, I'll be ecstatic.)

Currently I'm hoping for K. Rool, Rayman, or an indie character. I'm guessing someone like Bomberman (someone I voted for) would be a really really long shot by this point.

[up][up][up][up]Yeah, Wolf and Snake are usually the only returning vets I see people put on their "top 10 Smash Ballot characters" lists.

Sceptile, K. Rool, Shovel Knight, Shantae, Simon Belmont, Bayonetta, Dixie Kong, Chorus Kids, and Isaac usually appear on these lists I've seen.

Wolf is coming. Sakurai's lied before about not doing DLC, and he will continue to lie to keep up appearances. They're not going to confirm him in an interview of course, so Sakurai has to misdirect everyone. Don't know if he's planned for August or October, but I guarantee he's being worked on (or has been finished) and was planned the moment they began DLC.

[up][up] Sceptile is another character I'd be happy to see, but I decided to vote for Ludicolo as my Pokemon suggestion. (Hey, it can use Grass-Type moves, and could even work dancing into its moveset!)

I'll be happy to see the Chorus Kids make the cut, too.

He did say that he originally only planned for Mewtwo as a bonus for people who bought both versions, and that would be the extent of the DLC, but changed his mind.

So you can either take that cynically as "Nintendo made him change his mind/Sakurai is a compulsive liar" or as a "Sakurai came to the conclusion that he could do more with the prospect of DLC than just Mewtwo."

I would like to see Wolf, Snake, and Ice Climbers return, at least.

I honestly don't give a crap about Young Link, Pichu, or the Pokemon Trainer.

You know what would be cool? Since the Character Select Screen is already kinda awkward and gets even more messed up each time they add a DLC character, it'd be nice if there were an option to rearrange it as you see fit.

I've got no hopes whatsoever for the Ice Climbers coming back, considering they were only not included because they didn't work on 3DS and I can't see them adding a DLC fighter just for the Wii U.

Wolf seems to be the only veteran who's likely to be brought back. Young Link has been succeeded, Pichu wasn't even considered for Brawl (while Dr. Mario, Mewtwo, and Roy at least had incomplete data in the game), Snake is unlikely due to licensing rights, Squirtle and Ivysaur have minuscule priority, and while I'd like to see the Ice Climbers as a Wii U exclusive character, I wouldn't count on them returning.

[up][up]With the added note that efforts to make them pan out were out-prioritized by work towards more popular series.

Like Dr Mario

If he did genuinely want to put them in, long-term DLC would have been - and still is - the perfect avenue to do so.

I can see the Ice Climbers working if they put in just one. His or her attacks would be buffed to compensate for not having a partner.

Again, I should clarify that it was stated that the Ice Climbers were cut because of time constraints making it difficult to get them working in time. Not because it was physically impossible to get them working on the 3DS.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if we got them. Not only are they a popular request and much-missed veteran, they already have them fully functional on the Wii U and just need to take some time to get them working on the 3DS.

Correct. However, it does not mean they will work on the 3DS even with lots of time to test. It's possible, though. I am not getting my hopes up, as the 3DS has severely lagged for me before with tons of stuff onscreen. I am not sure the issues are honestly fixable. But hey, if I'm proven wrong, sweet. But I'd love to see many vets come back anyway.

That said, besides Snake(who fit in well), Wolf is the only vet I feel that is severely missing. Pokemon-wise, only Pichu really makes me excited, but I really found him fun in Melee and he would be really useful with the Rage mechanic. That, and I cannot see Ivysaur and Squirtle getting in separately. All or nothing. And I doubt we're getting more Pokemon as well(although Pichu could make sense, since that'd match up with the other biggest series, Mario. Never mind that the only extra additions would be clones anyway, as Mario was intend to have 6 before last minute, same as Pokemon now).

But who knows what'll happen.

Pokemon does seem to be dominating the roster, as well as Mario, and surprisingly Fire Emblem. There definitely needs to be more game series introduced (or for other series to get DLC) before Mario or Pokemon gets more. no matter how much I'd love to have Pichu again

I'm about to commence an "all characters, all stages" run of SSB Wii U, here are the rules:

  • Battlefield, Big Battlefield, and Final Destination will the be last stages of the game
  • I have to record my wins and losses.
  • Only Item that can be on is the Smash Ball. Last time I did this I think a lot of my losses were due to the Pokemon and Assist Trophies.
  • I'll go in the order of the roster. So I'll start with Mario and end with Ryu.
  • No Mii fighters unless I run out of characters to use by Battlefield. They can be opponents but I can't use them until endgame. This is because I have a shit load of Mii Fighters.

This will be to gauge how good I am with each character. Maybe even characters I normally hardly use might end up becoming a character I like to use.

Well, none of them got Usable Megas.

And the one that did wouldn't really work in Smash, I don't think. Way too... punching bag shaped.

But one of the Gen V pokemon totally should get in. I vote Zoroark.

I totally want Zoroark to have a mega.. though I don't know how well that would work with illusion. It'd have to be gimmicky and useful.

I really wish Zoroark would be playable, too, (It's one of my favorite Pokemon in general), but the fact that it's already a Pokeball Pokemon in-game isn't letting me get my hopes up.

Okay, this is very odd for me to say..but I think I actually enjoy using Peach in Smash...she might move to tertiary main territory actually. I doubt I'll get her amiibo, though. I don't know, though, because I have Zelda's amiibo.
