That explains it. Since they found out some of Greninja's nerfs ended up being beneficial in the long run, Nintendo simply figured the reverse should be true as well.
Also, what do you mean benificial nerfs?

Greninja's F-Air and Up-Air got knockback reductions in the first 3DS patch, later it turned out that this allowed these moves to combo into more stuff at lower percentages (F-Air can combo into a dash grab at lower percentages for longer and Up-Air combos into itself also for longer).
As for the patch changes, Smashboards is gathering them.
Characters given big buffs: Zelda, Ike, Marth, Lucina, Charizard, Meta Knight, Falco
Characters given small buffs: Mii Swordfighter, Greninja, Samus, Ness, G&W, Bowser, Palutena, Rosalina, Lucario
Characters nerfed: Diddy, Captain Falcon, Mewtwo, Kirby
Mixed bag: Sonic, Villager, Link

Yeah, it seems this patch was really good to a lot of characters. I still need to check out Ike and Charizard.
Just to get it out of the way, here are some additional posts I've seen:
- Poorly drawn human anatomy
- Demotivational posts
- Posts saying things that have nothing to do with anything
- Posts having absolutely nothing in them
- "9/11" posts
- Random spoilers (DO NOT play as Ness or Lucas if you value being spoiler-free. On the same note, I haven't seen any for Xenoblade when playing Shulk, but I assume it's there)
- Fornication posts (generally when playing almost any female character)
Everything else is usually OK, although I sometimes notice posts that involve memes or memetic people in gaming that are bound to go over the heads of most players that I usually find more amusing, such as:
- He has no style (Diddy, especially after the Hoo-hah nerf)
- So happy (Yoshi)
- A mushroom with a V in it (referencing Vinesauce I think)
But mostly, I just find the stage bland, since it uses Battlefield's layout but lacks the Scenery Porn that stage has. I'm sure Nintendo will take care of the troll posting at some point too, but I only really started seeing them about a day later after the stage was released.

Well, I guess I just wouldn't play on it then. A poorly drawn penis or some other anatomy popping up on the screen would probably lead to the Wii U being drop-kicked out the window by my dad.

"I'm glad I don't wear shoes or else I'd have to always get shoes in two different sizes. ...If you know, you know!"Confusion doesn't slam the opponent onto a platform if there's one above Mewtwo anymore according to that thread. That was useful because it allowed Mewtwo to attack while the opponent is lying down or guess their roll and punish. Normally most characters can just jump after Confusion without Mewtwo being able to do anything about it.
Essentially, nothing particularly relevant unless you like Battlefield and company.
In general, the nerf count all seems pretty minor sans maybe Diddy and Sonic.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyDr. Mario gives me an excuse to hum 'I Am The Doctor' as I beat people up which makes him superior to Mario.
"We're home, Chewie."The thought crossed my mind that if we were to get a Ganondorf-esque Mario clone, that I would enjoy Metal Mario more than Dr. Mario. And to keep with his original 64 appearance, have him have armor and not flinch until he reaches a certain percentage, at which point he can be sent flying.
Your works are one trope short.Robin wishlist:
- Less landing lag on aerials.
- Better frame data on smashes.
- BETTER RUN SPEED FOR NAGA'S SAKE.
- Improve grabs:
- Speed up pummels.
- Longer grab range.
- Enable better followup options for throws. Everyone's getting Hoo-hahs, and Robin's up air is glorious already.
I need to fight Robins more often. Played as Mario against a Level 9 Robin 1-on-1 a few times this morning, and lost every time. I didn't expect her to be so good at juggling, and that Dark Magic grab move gets me every time.
That said, I was pretty proud of myself for reflecting a fully-charged Thunder back at her with my cape at one point. Wasn't able to do it again, though.

We keep hearing about "buffs", but is there an actual concrete list of them yet?
