I really don't like Wii U's classic mode.
5+ person matches are annoying and awkward, I don't care for how randomized the Intruders and stage choices are, and to be honest I simply do not like the Intensity Scale system. Didn't like it back in Uprising, don't like it now.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Don't really see that much of a difference in probability.
On the other hand, this does amusingly make it more likely for more double-dipping 3rd-party characters to hop in. Shame that Klonoa and virtually all of the Sonic Sega characters aren't capable of any odds-skewing "special favors", though.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyWii U's Classic Mode with it's 5+ Player Free-for-Alls and Intruders and being launched easily in those 5+ Player Free-for-Alls resulting in easier kills for the opponents and generally being random as fuck can go fuck off.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!![]()
I'd say the latter means more than the former. Kojima being made the Un-person is fucking awful, but Nintendo and Konami could still possibly work something out on the business side. However, if Konami starts acting all batshit on them the chances for Snake (and, for that matter, others like Belmont) are next-to-none.
... I hate to be a broken record here, but... any word on how Ryu is going to be not entirely overpowered? I mean, he has fast moves, he has combos, even without combos his moves do a crapload of damage, from what I hear he causes increased hit-stun but doesn't suffer it, he has options, he has some ridiculous KO moves, and his recovery might not even be that bad, so... uh.
The only thing I can see is that he's rather vulnerable in the air with his rather low-range aerials, and his recovery might be relatively easy to intercept?
The Konami thing really irritates me because that's where Hudson Soft's assets went when they closed their doors. Now the chances for Bomberman or even someone like Master Higgins being in Smash are more slim than they were before.
"I'm glad I don't wear shoes or else I'd have to always get shoes in two different sizes. ...If you know, you know!"Characters with long ranged/disjointed moves can keep Ryu away pretty well, such as Greninja and pretty much all the sword characters. Ryu also struggles against Sheik due to she pretty much not giving a damn about hadouken and hitting Ryu with needles all day.
Also Ryu's moves have a lot of hitlag on them from what I've heard, so his moves are less safe when they hit a shield than average.
Lucas's moves are fairly short ranged overall even if they're disjointed so it's not as good. Roy also has the problem that the tip of his sword is weak so that could mean the spacing with it might not be as good as with Marth or Lucina.
I think the best bets against Ryu are Greninja and Shulk since they can both outspeed (with Speed art in Shulk's case) and outrange Ryu.

Fittingly enough, Mewtwo of all things is also a surprisingly effective answer to the fighter.
But yeah, much like most fighting game shotos, he ends up being pretty predictable in drawn-out battles. Just get a feel for what he's going to do next and react accordingly, with the occasional camping session if you're feeling comfy.
...That doesn't address anything concerning the character's strengths or flaws.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyIt's the reason why Melee!Fox is less controversial than Brawl!Meta Knight or SSB 4!Diddy. Well, part of the reason.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.![]()
Even then, I don't see it; I've been seeing dozens upon dozens of Ryus online the past several hours, and even without any combo know-how (keep in mind that several of these are also aware of the command inputs as well), they're all still PITAs to KO.
Well, I don't think he's that hard to use, but I'll say he's still not as cheap as Diddy used to be.
Then again, I don't know, when Mewtwo was released, I've seen plenty of people calling him OP as well, before finding out that he does have some severe weaknesses, so I think it's too early to decide. We'll see how the metagame evolves.
I wanted to choose a quote, but there was so many I couldn't choose.

Am I the only guy who likes the Wii U's classic mode? I mean yeah there was a charm to the originals arcade style and I'd totally love for the mini games to come back (though I've given up hoping for individualized break the targets because they'd have to make like 55+ of them so each character gets one), but I like the more streamlined risk reward format. So far this is the only Smash game where I've collected all the character trophies because the other classic modes could take up to 10 plus minutes (in particular I remember getting Fox in Brawl took me about 20.)
