Yeah, ukemi has been a fighting game term for quite some time.
And Smashers have a different term for it now? Not at all confusing.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.It's also a trick that you're at an inherent disadvantage with if you don't learn.
Even Uprising had teching.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyI don't mind using fan-terms such as "tilts" or "f-air", but something about the word "teching" massively rubs me the wrong way.
I guess because "tech" is short for "technology" or "technical", which don't make sense as verbs. And there's nothing particularly "technical" about it anyway.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!"Technique" is also a valid source, and very much fits with an option that requires precise timing to break one's fall/flight on a surface to avoid further attacks.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyI prefer ukemi for it's specificity but will accept tech(ing), if mostly because of the Grandfather Clause.
I sure said that!I have a complete list of mains for Sm4sh:
Primary mains:
- Fox
- Mega Man
- Mewtwo
- Lucina
- Shulk
- Sonic
- Captain Falcon
- Pit
- Dark Pit
- Mii Brawler
Secondary mains:
- Marth
- Little Mac
- Falco
- Link
- Luigi

- Meta Knight
- Bowser Jr
- Ike
- Robin
- Villager
- Mario

- Mii Gunner
- Mii Swordfighter
- Wario
Tertiary mains:
- Dr. Mario
- Diddy Kong
- Wii Fit Trainer
- Olimar
- Mr. Game and Watch
- Greninja
Mains are who you use most.
If you use everybody near equally, then I suppose that that's "main".
I count mains as the top three. Your lead should be whoever you'd use competitively.

You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayBut then they're not "main".
Your tertiaries are like...leftovers. The only times I use my least liked characters are when I'm looking for a little variety, and it's seldom enough to keep me using them.

You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayI have a pretty solidly defined main but a slew of characters I've tried as secondaries.
- Robin (too slow)
- Little Mac (depressing recovery)
- Mario (bad recovery)
- Dr.Mario (bad recovery and slow)
- Rosalina (can't get the hang of Luma)
- Lucario (attacks are too slow)
- Palutena (probably the best fit so far)
- Shulk (attacks are too slow)
- Pac-Man (not my playstyle)
- Ness (he's not Lucas)
- Peach (too tricky)
- Meta Knight (can't get the hang of him)
- Kirby (too little range)
- Ike (slow)
- Samus (that roll...)
- Megaman (not my playstyle)
- Zero Suit Samus (experimenting with)

Is that what it's called? I know how to do that (sometimes), I thought you were referring to something else...
I officially have negative knowledge of Smash terminology.
