I love playing him, his movements are so fluid and smooth!
Call me butter, because I am on a roll! 3ds friend code: 5258-0885-3903 Wii U: Bowser CharizardMy top three favorites now are Bowser, Mewtwo, and Ganondorf. How unoriginal of me.
Just thinking, Ike has a Suspiciously Similar Substitute in the Smash character page (being one of Roy, although throughly elaborated), should we add one for Lucario, with a pertinent explanation, and ending with an aversion?
No. We already went through a discussion on that.
As much as some folks like to say it, Lucario is not a substitute of Mewtwo in any way, shape, or form. Besides the supernatural fighting abilities and the one special move, they are nothing alike.
And for that matter, is Ike the one with the Suspiciously Similar Substitute entry? That's quite a shoehorning right there. Besides the the fire and the Mighty Glacier-ness, their moves are nothing alike.

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."We went through quite a lengthy Ask The Tropers discussion over this some months ago. I think Irene was involved.
I'd rather not bring a repeat of that, but the conclusion was that Lucario is not a substitute of Mewtwo, especially since Mewtwo was meant to be in Brawl.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."They have a single move in common (and so does Samus). They fit the role within the franchise, and are SOMEWHAT similar in terms of feeling. But that's it.
Ike is more of a fit; lord of the latest Fire Emblem game at the moment of debut (somewhat for Roy tho), different approach than Marth, and 2 of his specials are Roy's (Eruption is Fire Blade with a different animation, Counter is closer in timing to Roy's than to Marth's; still, Marth's variants changed from their Melee incarnations as well).
Keep in mind, I am talking from a function standpoint (I know that I was a Mewtwo main in Melee, and mained Lucario in Brawl because it was the next best thing, but clearly different). They have a floaty gameplay focused on huge jumps and recoveries, and solid aerials, and are both quite humanlike in demeanor compared to other Pokemon.
Not quite a substitute, but the similarities are there. Still I wouldn't derp out and say "Lucario is a clone of Mewtwo/is a reskined Mewtwo", but the feeling ended up being similar, and Mewtwo ended up absent in his debut game.
But yeah, I can see the counterpoint; in fact, I agree more with the counterpoint, but there are things that shouldn't be ignored.
Fox and Wolf never felt similar to me, gameplay-wise. But I never played as much as them.

I played Wolf and Fox quite a bit in Brawl and I can say that they feel completely different.
Call me butter, because I am on a roll! 3ds friend code: 5258-0885-3903 Wii U: Bowser CharizardAs was Roy.
So many big Melee names in this game now ;_;
Is Ness's recovery options considered all that good? Because all I can say about Mewtwo's so far is that he's overall slightly better at it than him (and pretty much only by virtue of not having PK GimpMe as his up-b).

Mmmmmmmmmmmm, I just learned that Shulk's Back Slash can now spike, even without hitting in the back.
