I still didn't vote because I'm so conflicted.
Should I just vote Wolf? I mean, I really want him to return. But what if Ninty already plans to make him after Lucas anyways? Maybe I'll vote for someone from Metroid, an underrepresented series. But who? Metroid doesn't have many characters on the first place, and Ridley is unlikely. U-Mos maybe? U-Mos would be pretty cool. What about a third-party series? It's unlikely but hey, Bomberman would be nice. So would be Rayman. So would be Snake returning. Banjo-Kazooie would be just perfect, but it's so unlikely it hurts my soul. And what about Saki? Or Isa/Kachi, since Saki is already an Assist Trophy? Some other Kong? Or King K. Rool? Another F-Zero character, like Black Shadow (although I'd rather have him take Ganondorf's current place and give Ganon an entirely new moveset)? Pokémon Ranger with his Pokemon popping up and attacking? But maybe there are too many Pokemon characters already. Any Advance Wars character? I freaking love Advance Wars. Or maybe...
I... just can't.
No regret shall pass over the threshold!Has anyone seen this? It might help.

we will survive.I refuse to accept Ridley as an impossible choice. I don't care that Sakurai himself says he's too big. Find a way goddammit.
So I've heard you can only vote once, and that voting after you've already voted just replaced your old vote with your new one. Bottom line, I'm torn, because damn are there just so many good choices. Don't know if I should jump the bandwagon on a popular choice in hopes of helping it go through or throw in something off-the-rails for kicks.

An explicit no from Word of God > what the fandom wants. Voting for Ridley is just a waste of time.

Regarding that Tumblr post, I still say that getting Geno is pretty unlikely. It all depends on how Square-Enix feels about this.
I like to think that he assumed people would know Ridley wouldn't be playable, and that the idea of Ridley being such never really crossed his mind.

De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.Don't crush my hopes and dreams
(Understand I wrote that in quasi-jest. While I would still love to see him in, voting for him is kind of a waste because, well, he's already in the game, albeit not playable. There's a better chance in Sakurai changing his mind come Smash 5 like he did with Animal Crossing between Brawl and 4.)

If it's anything like J Stars Victory Vs, then the very fact that he's in the game in any capacity is hype enough. Judging from response in both cases, most would disagree.

Basically, ever since the Pyrosphere stage was revealed, Sakurai refused to call Ridley by name, and it was very hard not to read it as misdirection regarding his status. Then the 50-Fact Extravaganza happened and the apparent buildup over an entire year came to a huge anticlimax, revealing that Ridley was just a glorified stage hazard. I and a lot of other people just really wish he'd have bitten the bullet and admitted that Rids wasn't a meaningful presence the game instead of leaving us on edge for months and months.

I sure said that!I find that new installments grow in their inclusivity.
In 64, it was mostly just the big franchise lead characters (and Jigglypuff).
In Melee it was supporting characters, villains and clones.
In Brawl it was new game characters, new clones and third parties.
Now Smash 4 has character alts, clones, more third parties and the players themselves.
By 5, it'll be more Assist Trophies and/or stage hazards, popular third parties from newer games, and clones of everybody.
And a fighting representation of the controller.

You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayA better link to the picture Daydre posted.
◊ Things of note:
- Geno isn't in the 3rd party section.
- Several odd choices in the frontrunners, including Rick, Machamp, Lanky Kong, Porky, and ... whoever the hell Doshin is.
- Ridley is only 12 in the "already in the game" section.
Has Smash even bothered to directly reference Super Mario RPG at any point? Of all the obscure Ninty choices to bring up, I can't wrap my head around how this can be seen as a possible shot.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guy

So as it happens it turns out that I'll be doing a video where I'll be doing commentary after all.
Or rather, I'll be streaming a Smashboards tournament made by the group of people I'm part of, and of course I'm going to be doing commentary in the match alongside someone else.
So yeah this just happened. We don't have a certain date for it yet, but we're doing it after the 15th after the balance patch arrives.
