Oh, no, I don't play Dedede in serious matches. I only play him when I want to be silly.
Speaking of being silly as Dedede, I just had an awesome moment. So, I was doing what I said I was going to do (just lay around the stage as Dedede in For Fun), and we happened to be on the Pyrosphere stage. I decided I was going to attack as little as possible, like usual...except that I would go after Ridley to get him on my side.
I got him on my side.
I just won a match with five KOs without actually knocking anybody off myself. Ridley did all the work for me. It was glorious.
"We're home, Chewie."Welp, this is embarrassing... I tend to have quite some trouble against Dededes. I blame mostly dem Gordos... and a couple of misplaced counters here and there.

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Don't be too sure. Since Dark Pit's arrows are slower and don't curve as much, that would imply that they do more damage/knockback. Yeah, it doesn't sound like much, but that means you're gonna have to make sure your opponent is more in the line of fire, like Toon Link's bow, which I actually use for edgeguarding.
Man, I came across the perfect people for my silly-Dedede For Fun saga. I met at least three or four people who went along with my antics and also started avoiding attacking and just kept taunting or crouching. Eventually we all had silly names relating to our characters (I wanted mine to be "HailToTheKing", but it was too long so I just went with "DaKing"). It was fantastic.
This definitely rekindled my joy of Smashing and got me out of an all-around funk I'd been in today. I'm in a rather good mood now.
@Zarek: Happy I can help. Remember, It's absolutely not worth "Smashing" your 3DS/Wii U over something like this. I speak from experience, as I was also getting increasingly frustrated with my For Glory losing streak.
No joke, I almost ended up chucking my 3DS at the ceiling, but thankfully it ended up unscathed. Not my proudest moment by a long shot. I think that's when I left For Glory and went over to For Fun, and started to smile at the game again. There's just something so refreshing about playing on normal stages.
So yeah, consider me in the same boat.
I prefer playing as Dark Pit, partly due to the Electroshock Arm and partly due to DAT VICTORY MUSIC!
Even though I like Dark Pit more, I play as Pit more because Pit's alts have more of a calming effect on me.

While Dedede may be at a disadvantage in a 1-on-1 match, a competent partner in team battles can set up opponents to take the full force of his attacks.
