Pun intended? Because there's a pun there.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyThe good thing about customizing Sonic is that since he's the fastest fighter in the game, you can pass on the high speed equipment and put it all on power.
I used him a lot in Brawl...I want to get good with him again.
Pity I've already done all the singleplayer work with him.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayThat same glitch happened to me when I unlocked Tac's trophy.
Anyway, today I cleared all the Target Blast-related challenges and finally managed that awful Trophy Rush Dr. Mario challenge.
Aside from breaking 50000 blocks in Trophy Rush, all my remaining challenges pertain to Classic, All-Star, Event Match, or are "milestone" challenges like getting every hat.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I still need 450000 on stage 3 of Target Blast. It's starting to feel like luck whether I get the right combination of attacks for it.
Also I realized that I can't make Sonic TOO strong or he gets heavy, and that slows him down more.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayI think I may have to rethink my ranking of the games in this series. I have found it difficult to get back into Brawl after playing Wii U, but I could easily get back into 64 and Melee. (Granted, 64 has the advantage of my whole "retro game only" phase of my freshmen year of HS, and to a lesser extent, my sophomore year)
So now, I think my ranking is (from favorite to least favorite):
- Wii U
- Melee
- 64
- Brawl
- 3DS

AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!1st: Super Smash Bros. 3DS (Still the better version of the two in my opinion, having the better Classic Mode, better exclusive Mode, and less bullshit Challenges, as well as being easier to get Custom Moves in and being able to personalize your game. Even better if you have it on New 3DS.)
2nd: Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Believe it or not, but The Subspace Emissary actually helped it eke out a the enjoyment I needed for it to pass the Wii U version.)
3rd: Super Smash Bros. Wii U (Comes very slightly behind Brawl. It would have gone forward but... it's just too frustrating.)
4th: Super Smash Bros. (Board the Platforms and all the character exclusive Target Tests not being lazy... and also Fighting Polygon Team.)
5th: Super Smash Bros. Melee (Still at the bottom. Some character-exclusive Target Tests being rather lazy, having the weakest Small Fry Enemy Team, and Event Mode being bloody frustrating doesn't help it's cause.)

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyI haven't played 3DS so excluding that...
My list is simply Wii U > Brawl > Melee > 64.
As for individual points, while I like the Wii U version best so far, Brawl I felt did have more enjoyable singleplayer content thanks to SSE, something I sorely miss from Wii U. Not to mention Event Match wasn't quite as frustrating. Melee, the only real thing I miss is that it had a good trophy gallery that, even though it was smaller than the next games', was surprisingly diverse and not all just lazy model imports. 64 is the weakest, but it had a lot of charm to it aesthetically that the latter three don't quite have in my opinion. It had some really cool sound effects, too.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Ah yes, another point in regards to the 64 version (though this is mostly preference) is that it introduced the two most iconic groups of the Smash cast: The Original 8 (Mario, DK, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox, and Pikachu) and the Secret 4 (Luigi, Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon, and Ness).
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!I go Wii U, Brawl, 3DS, 64, then Melee. Putting 64 before Melee may be because of nostalgia or distaste for the competitive community, but whatever.
For little reason besides my own pleasure, I've decided to pair off fighters as rivals and see how they match up. How's this sound...
- Mario vs. Luigi (good old sibling rivalry)
- Peach vs Zelda (who's the better princess?)
- Bowser vs. Ganondorf (heavy kings of evil)
- Yoshi vs. Bowser Jr. (from way back in Yoshis Island and Yoshis Story)
- Rosalina vs. Palutena (elegant goddesses)
- Wario vs. Dr. Mario (like in Dr. Mario 64)
- Donkey Kong vs. Diddy Kong (monkey fight)
- Mr. Game and Watch vs. Pacman (old school heroes)
- Little Mac vs. Captain Falcon (who packs a better punch?)
- Link vs. Toon Link (a "link" between times :p)
- Sheik vs. Wii Fit Trainer (a fight of flexibility)
- Samus vs. Zero Suit Samus (who wears the mask?)
- Pit vs. Dark Pit (the conflict between light and dark)
- Marth vs. Ike (a fight to decide the better Fire Emblem)
- Robin vs. Lucina (I think they come from the same game)
- ROB vs. Duck Hunt (classic NES mascots)
- Kirby vs. Meta Knight (a battle to decide the tougher puffball)
- Dedede vs. Olimar (Olimar's always fighting some huge lifeform)
- Fox vs. Falco (tensions on the Star Fox team)
- Pikachu vs. Jigglypuff (a scuffle between two cute Pokemon)
- Charizard vs. Greninja (fire vs. water)
- Lucario vs. Mewtwo (does popularity equal power?)
- Ness vs. Villager (two boys duke it out)
- Megaman vs. Sonic (a battle between the Blue Bomber and the Blue Blur)
- Shulk vs. Mii Swordfighter (who's got a cooler sword?)
- Mii Brawler vs. Mii Gunner (a fight between fisticuffs and firearms)
Sometimes introducing things can make things fundamentally worse. See: tripping.
Order for me goes Melee > U/3DS (I'm more of a mechanic over content person so as far as I'm concerned these games are on equal terms) > 64 > Brawl.
@bats Noted.
But Megaman and Sonic are both blue. :| And then who would I put Luigi with? Megaman? That's weird...
But Shulk could go with Robin because they both got powers and then Mii Swordfighter would go with Lucina...I dunno.

Now I got this room where these three are actually ganging up on me. And they're making it painfully obvious.
Aaaaaand, HA! Finally bested those little degenerates. They got too cocky until Great Cave Offensive showed up. Greninja, you've saved me again.
