Why is it that, in the 3DS version, each stage only has, like, 2-3 songs each? Is that a space thing or something?

Footstools: Because gliding was obviously the only exploitable Brawl mechanic

I keep sensing Mewtwo will bring with him a great and terrifying nerf bat and will strike cruelly upon his return.

I sure said that!

Sakurai, if there's one thing I wish you would get over your stubbornness about, it's to let people ground tech footstools. It's a simple solution that would solve pretty much every infinite we found in this game.

There aren't any infinites in this because unlike Brawl where you could drag the opponent across the stage by jabbing them while they're on the ground, this game only allows you to hit them three times before they get up and escape. Plus you don't really see footstools happen that often I don't think.

Was the removal of stickers a good idea? In Brawl, they didn't really have much of a use for me, even in The Subspace Emissary. It was basically artwork from past games, so I prefer trophies because they give just about anything a new model. I rarely even notice their absence.

I think the customization system is the closest we have to a direct replacement of stickers.

Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.

I never used stickers. I hated how if you ever peeled them off then you could never use them again, and they were only for the Subspace Emissary.

Equipment is way better. You can use it in a lot more places, you can reuse it (unless you're feeding it to your amiibos), and it's got more special effects to it.

Granted I seldom use equipment with effects, but it's the thought that counts.

Custom Moves are coming to EVO 2015

Everybody start unlocking your sets, the meta is about to change.

Shameful.

Well, I never paid any attention to the competitive scene anyway, so I'll just keep waiting for Mewtwo and all of his custom specials.

I wonder if you'll have to unlock them too or if they'll come pre-packaged like Palutena's and the Mii Fighters'.

Equipment sucks anyway, both in theory and in implementation. In theory because in a fighting game like this you need to be always familiar with the way a character moves, and too many variables would make everything a mess. In implementation because it gets in the way of unlocking custom moves, which are actually cool.

I prefer trophies because they give just about anything a new model.

With a handful of exceptions (and even then, Brawl can't even claim that), every other trophy in the game is a reused model of something either already in the game, ripped straight out of another game, or occasionally (and comically) even both. It's the same thing as what the Stickers are, only with the added need of extra writing and storage space.

I myself can't bring myself to care about the series' attempts at stat customization - neither Brawl's nor 4's - so all I see is them axing one admittedly unnecessary feature from the game only to replace it with some other unnecessary feature completely devoid of any personality, meanwhile several other unnecessary features find their way in anyway.

Plus it was evidently the only way that we were going to get anything from the non-"classic" Megamans outside of the FS, so there's that too

Equipment is great. it makes a good fighter better and a bad fighter competent.

And everything takes playing over and over again to get anyway.

It makes a good fighter silly and a bad fighter sillier.
