Honestly, I think one of the first steps they could make towards making it better is DUMPING THE FREAKING TIME LIMITS!! This is the biggest reason I have never wanted to play this mode with friends. I have never played a session of Smash Tour where the final match does not end in a time out! So frustrating!
It's also almost impossible to keep track of what's going on the board, because everyone moves at the same time. I understand they don't want the game to drag along, but right now it goes too fast.
Plus, the main Smash mode just overshadows all. Whenever I'm at a friend's house, they want to play that. Why add a board game to the mix when you can just Smash normally?
It's just way too chaotic for me, and the time limits are very fun killing. If they fixed these two things, I think the mode could improve immensely.
Even with these awkward wings, dyed with images that seem to stay. I'm sure we can fly, on my love! 3DS Friend Code: 2809-9138-8756I find it's harder to tell who's in the lead during timed matches, but other than that I don't see how you'd have to work any harder in a timed match to get a lead.
I kind of prefer Stock because I don't feel like "Augh I only have 2 minutes and I have to kill him NOW" and end up stupidly rushing into everything, but I play both modes
You can always turn on KO score in timed matches.
I've always thought that Smash Tour Would be better with more options. Choosing what battles to play, what items appear on the board, and maybe even which fighters you'd use...the thing of it is that it forces you to use someone you may not be good with, and then you have to strain to win with them. Usually people don't seem to like fighting with someone they don't want to, along with all of the other things that players will throw at them.
Maybe it'd be fun once or twice with a few good players, but everyone else seems that they'd rather just Smash.
Also, I said I started using timed matches for team battles so I could always keep even numbers on the stage, AND so that my teammates don't beat me out for having lost fewer stocks even though my score is way higher. Stock matches are still good for free-for-alls because it always stays pretty fair in the end.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayI don't understand why Sakurai is trying to make Smash Bros appeal to the casual crowd. From what I've experienced, it is mostly the hardcore crowd that plays Smash Bros. It is rare for me to get my mom to play SSB (and that is usually when we have people over), my parents usually prefer to play Mario Kart. And a lot of people at my school like to play either Xbox or I Phone games (aka, shit games...though the Xbox 360 has a few good multiplatform games like GTA).
There are a few things that I will never understand about Smash Bros development...
AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!Yeah, you don't move nigh-Mario Kart numbers without there being some appeal to an audience bigger than the hardcore. "I can make Mario fight Sonic!" sort of things are some of the greatest appeals of the saga.
Like it or not, the hardcore audience is a Vocal Minority in the greater picture for most games, especially ones that bring "simple joy" appeal like Smash Bros. does.

I was largely talking about my own experience with casuals and SSB.
Speaking of...
I have a few minor issues when playing SSB with casual gamers, either they:
a: Ask me to turn on items (sometimes I will, but for people that have played all the games with me enough I won't because I expect more of them. I'll also turn off the overpowered items if the game is Brawl or Wii U.)
b: spamming, which is by far more annoying than the other annoyance. Like, actually use the A Button...not just for using Dash Attacks like my friend.
Out of curiosity, which moves have you guys seen spam the most?
I either see:
- a: Yoshi's Egg lay
- b: Kirby's Inhale or Stone
- c: Pikachu's thunder
- d: Falcon/Warlock Punch
- e: Dash attacks for Luigi and Sonic
- f: Link's Spin Attack
- g: Dk's Slap.
EDIT: If I sound really negative, I've not been in the best mood today. I've lost a bottle cap on my school bus for the second time this week, and we're near Valentine's Day, which hasn't left me in a happy mood last year and maybe this year.

AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!Smash Bros. was always meant to appeal to a casual crowd, as an easy to get into fighting game with simple controls and being packed together as one big Nintendo franchise cross over.
I've seen spam of every variety, it's best to start trolling so as not to easily fall for the spam trap.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Smash started casual, then it got big, then people made it competitive, then the creators took the popularity and tried to make it casual again, then people got mad, then the creators tried to even it out to appeal to the most people.
I think it went well though.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayIt would've most likely not clicked with me if it was a traditional fighting game. Not only it would lose variety, but also I've always found the controls of classic fighting games to be completely unintuitive. Press forward-down-diagonal and punch very quickly to uppercut upwards because reasons.
Also, Master Balls are awesome.

Folks, my capture card has arrived! Now I only have to wait for my dad to get home with it since he had it be delivered to his office.
