Without causing too much of a difference in his play style, Patching Diddy is a no go.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I first cleared 9.0 as Ness. Getting to Master Core has never been a problem for me on any difficulty, but Master Core always destroys me when I get to the sword form. Ness turns that around completely, absorbing the huge energy attacks that make the swords annoying, and can camp his way through Master Fortress with PK Thunder any day of the week.
Still haven't gotten the '9.0 without losing a stock' challenge yet, though. Probably because I haven't bothered with customs to make Ness a horrifying abomination on par with his enemy.
I nearly beat 9.0 with Mario and no lost lives but Master Edges knocked me out. It always seems like it has more health than the other forms, or just less time when you can safely hit it.
That move when it slices and moves toward you before making one last slash almost always kills me. It's just not fair.
And it's not something you can easily counter against because even if you use a character that can counter then it will still keep moving. Unless maybe you wait for the last slash...
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayIn my opinion, once you start picking up on his patterns, the sword becomes easier, while the giant remains at pretty much the same difficulty.
Here's my advice on the swords;
When they chase after you, prepare for them to rapidly strike at you, too fast for you to even air-dodge, then a massive swipe that sends you to the left. Shield for the rapid swings, then air-dodge.
When two swords go to the left, and two to the right, air-dodge the first four, then shield the last hit (unless your shield is recovering from the attack mentioned a paragraph above).
When it briefly flashes then just does a swing at you I still have trouble with, but basically you gotta hope you're not doing a laggy move, and dodge, whether spot-dodging or side-dodging.
Master Edges became a lot easier for me when I found out that shielding with good time allowed you to dodge the rapid-slashes with little trouble and then spot-dodge the stronger slash. Usually the attack that gets me the most is the one where four swords go to the side and one stays on the top. I never manage to fully dodge the attack.
The only reflectable Master Core objects I noticed were the Edges' windy slashy orb thingy, but I think everything else can't be reflected because they usually explode or something.
Also, maybe it's because I'm on the 3DS version, but when Edges is readying the multi-slash, I just run under it to the right edge of the stage, and they can't hit me until the final slash (which I shield). I don't know if that's still possible in the 3DS version.
I always do that. Also Master Edges is almost always the easiest part of the fight for me. Unless I'm Ganondorf, then it's Master Shadow.
I think the easiest attack to dodge from Master Edges is when the swords separate. It's more predictable than any of their other attacks, and I just sidestep throughout the duration of the move, even during the final slash. In other difficulties, the final slash is noticeably faster, so I just need to get the timing right.
The multiple strikes followed by the final slash is usually a hit-or-miss kind of deal when it comes to my dodging. Sometimes I head to the left, other times I stay and shield before I sidestep the finishing slash, and rarely do I camp to the right so they can rapidly swing from behind. Much of the time I'm not so sure how to properly dodge this attack, but it's rare for me to die from it, so I got that going for me, which is nice.
Edges' most devious attack, by far, is also their simplest one: their sudden, solitary yet deadly, slash. I just don't have the reflexes to predict this attack, and I die almost every time I screw up (which is often). At least with the multiple slashes, you know that the finishing slash will occur in time for you to defend yourself from it, but these single slashes come absolutely out of nowhere. Earlier, I equated the attack to Tabuu's Off Waves, and that's because both attacks are probably the most common causes of failure when I'm up against their respective bosses.
That said, am I the only one who has more trouble with Master Beast than Master Edges? I die more often at Edges than I do at Beast, but mostly because of all the damage I've taken from Beast. It's probably the perfect example of a Mighty Glacier boss: the pace of its battle isn't quite as quick as those of Master Core's other forms, but it sure can hit, and when it hits, it hits hard. I mean, "like a truck" hard. Most of the damage I take from Core before heading to Master Fortress comes from Beast.
Another thing: is it just me, or does Master Shadow feel easier in the Wii U version than in the 3DS version? Its AI seems lacking on the defensive side, even when it's shrunken down. It almost always grabs the ledge when it's knocked off the stage, leaving it open to a well-timed side- or down-smash. Maybe it's just because it has slightly less HP than it does on the 3DS?
I completed 9.0 as Duck Hunt with no customizations, if only because I have yet to try out their alternate special moves. I basically rushed through the first half of Fortress without even killing everything in the vicinity of the second core. I think that gave me enough time to be slower with the last core because I was able to wipe out everything in the area. In the end, after I finished off the final core, I had slightly less than a minute to spare. Landing the final blow on Master Core was so satisfying, as was hearing Xander Mobus tell me, "Wow! Incredible!" with great admiration (although I heard him say that earlier when I beat Classic on 9.0 a few times on the 3DS, as well as when I beat All-Star on Hard with King Dedede).
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.I'm planning to become a Let's Player as well, so no need for titles
I think once I actually decide to record things, I'm going to LP Shovel Knight.
But anyway here's a little combo that people seem to fall for a lot.
I think that's how I'm getting most of my kills with Greninja now
Full Tron! No, wait, [[Let's Play/Markiplier Mooniplier!]] No...

I also cleared Classic on 9.0 for the first time using, surprise, Duck Hunt. Right now I'm wondering just how the hell I was able to clear Master Fortress in under three minutes.
They'll probably patch him not too long from now.
