I feel like Diddy's a little bit over the top, but that guy that got to top 8 with Olimar and Rosalina by being really campy shows that defensive play is just a little too good in this game. I think shields should be a bit weaker - it's amazing how many times I've come so close to busting someone's shield, then they run away for maybe 3 seconds and bam it's full strength again. Campy matches do not a fun game make.

Amiibos actually do learn to fight like you if you're playing the same character. Someone did an experiment to test it by teaching their Pikachu amiibo to abuse Thunder. Can't find the video though.

I've heard that's one reason you don't want to do mirror matches too much. If you do they pick up some bad habits. If you make them fight tons of different opponents they'll develop their own strategies to counter them instead of just copying yours.

Speaking of campiness, now I wonder. Would the character balance be affected in any meaningful way if shields were weaker?

I guess Jigglypuff would get a little worse and characters with shield-breakers would get a little better...?

Donkey Kong would likely improve considering he's pretty much the only character that can break shields consistently as is.

I've only broken a shield once or twice, when it does happen I kind of freeze up because I have no idea what to do all of a sudden.

Personally I find Jigglypuff intsta-dieing if her shield is broken a little weird, maybe it balances something out her rest ability, I dunno, just seems odd that everyone else's punishment is a few second for free setup or smash attack

Jigglypuff was originally meant to be the series' Joke Character, hence why that mechanic was in Smash 64. It's just stayed ever since Jiggly became good as an artifact.

I had no idea Jigglypuff had that mechanic in 64! I hardly ever played with or against her in any of the other versions of Smash, so I thought it was new tongue

I once saw someone speedrun Melee's Adventure Mode by using Jigglypuff. At that one vertical section, he broke her shield, allowing us to watch her rocket to the end of the stage.

It was pretty darn funny.

Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.

Now i want to try that.

I wonder if it would work in "Climb!" in Smash Run.

[up][up] No, because Jiggly would get stuck on ceilings and could even hit a danger zone by accident.

Right, because the one in Melee was, for the most part, purely permeable platforms.

(non-deliberate alliteration, i assure you)

What? Does that mean there's no way for me to get a Smash soundtrack now? T_T

Not sure if I'm to post it here or on the Online thread... But since that's more for arranging matches, whatever.

Why so many people ragequit as soon as I enter For Glory 1x1 with Jigglypuff? Seriously, that was like the third time the match barely started when my opponent just double suicides.

In one of the occasions, I was standing around when he tried to fight for the first five seconds and then gave up. But hey, I was just playing defensively!!

The Greninja boards just now decided to experiment with Greninja's down-taunt and it's possible that the taunt can be used as a combo-starter and the taunt actually has priority over the attacks from getting up from the ledge and can actually hit people trying to recover from the ledge, be it by jumping or rolling.

Yes, Greninja's taunt can be seriously used to start combos and intercept people on the ledge.

I don't know whether to find this amazing or hilarious.

Deadpool called, he wants his schtick back.

More hilarious than Luigi's D-taunt being a meteor smash?

That's quite somethin'.

[up][up]Amusingly enough Deadpool is my best character in Marvel. This must be a sign.

[up] Luigi's funny too, but it's almost impossible to land his taunt in a serious match, Greninja's is actually a possible viable move.

I wouldn't put it past Deadpool to use his own tongue as a scarf.

Anyway, if this kicks off a new stream (heh) of frog strategies, it would be quite a sight.

So basically all that needs to be done is drop off the ledge and attack from below like most people. :V
