The only item I turn off without question is the Gust Bellows. Cheap multikills that ain't even fun to cause or be a victim of.
In other important news: Man, what a bunch of jokers!
Its fun to use on Small opponents...see how fast they fly away.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.>items
me and my brother were always selective about items
for a while we only had smash balls, poke balls, assist trophies, and the bat
eventually we phased out the balls and trophies because we didn't want the game to change because someone got something other than Goldeen and we were tired of seeing that damn devil
but playing the new game... did they even try to balance items?
You mean Boss Galaga?
I love the Gust Bellows, too. You know characters like Little Mac and Dr. Mario are going to panic with that thing around.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.
Yes, but especially the ones that have the worst recoveries.
I love the Master Ball, too. I'm glad they made legendary Pokemon so much more common, and it makes casual fights so much more chaotic. I remember in Brawl when I had to hold these really long fights with only Poke Balls on high just to encounter one of the "cute" legendaries (Mew, Celebi, and Jirachi). Encountering Manaphy also took an insane amount of time.
EDIT: I don't think Yoshi would have a problem with the Gust Bellows, either.

Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.By now I leave all items off because I want to work with fighter combinations and training my amiibos. I had been leaving on team healers to see how willing they were to help me out, but I see that my team doesn't focus on them very much.
There are a few items I leave off when I have any on, but just the ones that cause me more trouble than they help, like Smoke Balls, Killer Eyes, Poison Mushrooms...
Also, Beehives and Cuccos. I never thought there would be anything I hated as much as bees, but it is Cuccos.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayNone of the items particularly bug me. Except the Fan, but that's gone.
The other day in Classic Mode I killed 6 opponents at the same time with the Gust Bellows, on Mario Galaxy. It was quite satisfying. The 7th, Ike, managed to Aether out of it.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I liked the Fan. It never seemed to hard for me to get out of...but that was probably because CPU's never really cared to (ab)use it.
And the Gust Bellows is really fun and not so hard to get away from. Except from somebody who also knows how to use it.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stay"Been really liking Toon Link lately. Is he also considered lower tier?"
Toon Link has got to be mid-tier at least, I can't think of any major weaknesses he has besides range and weight, both of which are somewhat compensated for by projectile spam and a decent recovery. Aside from that he's fast, pretty strong, versatile, doesn't really have trouble killing, and, as I said, projectile spam.
Which is also the reason I can't imagine standard Link being low tier, or at least not to an extent that it really matters so much. Projectile spam is really powerful in this game, and Link has considerable bulk while his attacks aren't so slow that their range and power don't make them worth it. He probably has issues recovering and being punishable on end lag, but I'd be very surprised if he was actually bad and not just kind of subpar but perfectly usable.
... conversely, I'd be very surprised if Ganondorf wasn't low tier, as Pancake wondered. He's got some pretty strong attacks that can make him worth using, but I don't see him doing well against any character who can poke him with projectiles.
I don't really mind any of the items except the Gust Bellows, Beetle, and Boss Galaga. Those three have been the cause of many failed All Star mode runs. Outside of it, they're annoying, but I don't have as much of a problem with them.
Also, I don't really see the Master Ball as something that gives cheap K Os. It's not like every Pokemon in it has something that instantly K Os you. Will some of them cause K Os? Yeah, but so will Poke Balls and Assist Trophies.
I usde items when I'm playing for fun.
I don't use items when I'm playing "seriously" or trying to get better with a character.
Simple as that, really.
Items are really fun. Some of you guys are kill joys
.
I miss the fan.

"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."Sure you don't mean Classic? All-Star Mode doesn't have items besides the Rest Area healing items.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!
Right, except I'd say that Brawler's FS is mostly Robin's with the second character (Chrom) missing.

It's Greninja's FS actually (Zoroark doesn't follow the opponent down like Ike does, but the opponent is sent down like in Greninja's Night Slash FS). Apparently it's using Fury Swipes, which is a massive buff compared to Pokemon's version of the move.
Pokeballs and Masterballs don't usually bother me, half the time they just take up part of the stage and everyone avoids that corner until they leave when I've played with them.
Had a fun run online this morning though. Best moment was my Greninja vs Captain falcon, he was standing on the edge of the map and I flinched him off stage with an unpowered Water shuriken just in time for him to Falcon Kick himself to death. Didn't see that coming!

I mean, there's slight variations in effect, but yeah, basically, that is the case.
As for items... I always turn off the ones that are essentially free KOs even if I'm using items in general- So, no Hammers, no Bob-ombs, no Beetles, etc. Final Smashes and assist items get a pass by virtue of at least being somewhat interesting.

I sure said that!

Items don't usually bother me unless I'm in a bad mood...so its rarely ever an issue.
I play with items off usually for the purpose of doing scenario battles with even ground, which means Omega stages and no items.
The only reason I still play with items off is because I'm just not bothered to turn them back on since I play Online 85% of the time.
