Both...they speed up the process.

Have you tried one method without doing the other?

Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy. Also, Iwata pitched in to make sure SSBM was released on time.

Is this a Jo Jo reference?I find that Cpus always escape my grabs if i try more than one hit and THEIR grabs are like glue.
So I don't try to hit them when I'm holding them, i just throw them when i need to

You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayAnyway, DID YOU KNOW THAT
During the song "Master Core" (which plays when fighting the identically-named boss in Classic Mode), the instruments will silence after 1 minute and 53 seconds and a series of beeps will play for six seconds before the instruments start playing again. These beeps are Morse Code for "MASTER CORE".
Is this a Jo Jo reference?@Burnt Mario...
Yes I've tried both separately...doing both together is faster.

x4 Are there any other ways to get 100+ combos in Training Mode?
Well, I do like the equipment. It's just for fun. I wouldn't use it in any serious match, and I can understand wanting to only use Custom Moves too. Custom Moves should be allowed for tourneys, but only if you have all the moves on the copy of the game itself. Of course Equipment should be banned. I do like Smooth Lander, but I don't know what kind it is(Speed/Defense/Attack), and if it even gives a stat difference. My idea is that everybody would be able to get 7 in each of them using only Smooth Lander and generics of the others. That would be entirely fair as nobody would get any unique bonuses of any kind.
I found the customization loads of fun and allowed for all kinds of unique builds. It means you can play far more differently than normal. My two Ganondorfs are quite fun. Speed and Normal both are good in their own right. The only thing I may need to change for my Speed version is the Attack booster. Even in a tourney with equipment, I'm sure any healing ones would be banned(and I agree with that). Same with Item ones.
Shadow?I only really use equipment for the Mii Fighters, pretty much just to make them more like their non-Mii counterparts. Like, I made Wreck It Ralph a tough-but-slow bruiser and Vanellope a speedster (' cause she's a racer, after all).
"We're home, Chewie."

Custom moves should have been selectable separately from the ridiculousness that is equipment. Seriously, I'm all for good fun, but "Start battle with X item"? "X seconds of invincibility after eating food"? Are you shitting me?

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."
