So, do you think that this game should have had a story mode?
The Subspace Emissary was kind of boring for me and I don't feel that Smash really needs a story mode. Smash for me really doesn't excel as a beat em up platformer that lasts 10 hours.

Is this a Jo Jo reference?I liked SSE, though I agree it should have been better polished and that its inclusion likely diverted resources and attention away from other things.
If we get any DLC besides Mewtwo, a $40 story mode thing would be pretty neat.
Personally, if I were designing the next Smash Bros, what I'd do is return Event Match to its list format and make the map-like thing be for a new Adventure Mode, which would be contextless levels with various enemies and perhaps bosses.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!...That'd be a pretty hilarious way to invoke Sakurai's anti-story mode "reasoning", actually.

Story mode...just a general adventure mode is good enough really, I like Smash run because that's pretty much what it is for 5 minutes.

Check out my art if you notice.The only problem I had with SSE was near the end, with a large area that was simply a copy-paste of most previous areas of the game, where you had to find the doors to fight bosses you've already faced. It was so monotonous. Also, I was only able to defeat Tabuu after learning that Rolling can avoid his Off-Waves. Mostly, I just forget Rolling's existence. Some games are too fast-paced for me to always remember everything at my disposal.

I was Falco, I don't remember who my CPU opponents were, but when the last CPU was about to be KO'ed on his last life, Mew dropped a CD, so right before the match ends, I grabbed the CD (For those curious, the track I got was "Battlefield Ver. 2" from Brawl)
Also, I have a story to share:
Last Friday, My CAD class had a free video game day, and I brought my Game Cube and a copy of Melee. One match, I start as Marth, facing a girl who has never played SSB before, and is playing as Pichu. I leave to get a picture taken, so I hand my controller off to someone else. THE WINNER OF THE MATCH WAS THE PERSON PLAYING AS PICHU, WHO HAD NOT PLAYED SMASH BROS.! (All Caps to emphasize my surprise when I learned who won that match...and it was on Mute City)
AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!Marth must have never played a Fighting game. That, or he knew Smash Bros. well enough for the match-up to lure him to a false sense of security.
I remember playing Melee after Brawl. It was so awkward, with no Frame Buffering and you can't grab the ledge from behind. That's why I never used off-stage edgeguarding, which I used all the time in Brawl, because I always died while the opponent survived.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Man, nothing's better for learning the advantages and disadvantages of a character than being forced to use them in a difficult situation. I've literally spent all afternoon trying to get the All Star Mode on Hard with Duck Hunt challenge, and... well... at least I learned a bit. They do less well in crowds than I was expecting.

Yeah, when there's one or even two of them, or when I can get the three of them in a straight line, then I own. But when set upon by three targets at once at different distances (if not from different directions) things start to add up.
For one, I had to really learning how best to use Duck Hunt's surprisingly powerful but very slim hitbox-wise air moves (imo its major kill moves, outside of the Smashes which have... problems with groups).
So, I finally got a Wii U and Smash Four.
... I feel like I can't do tilts when I want to, just smashes.

I use the checkered shirt. It's based on the naming screen in Earthbound. :D
