Bowser's side smash could level city blocks if he was big enough. He is become death.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectPit's powerful, but most of his power comes from Palutena, Viridi, or in the most extreme example Dyntos. On his own, he's just an agile fighter with a wide array of weapons.
I mean, I guess you could make the same argument that Samus and Shulk are only powerful because of that which is provided to them by the Chozo and Zanza/Alvis, respectively, but the former owns and is pretty much defined by her Power Suit anyway while the latter has internalized much of that power, whereas Palutena could leave Pit powerless in a second were she so inclined.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Pit's Power of Flight and Powers come from Palutena. His fighting ability is all him.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! Most of his weapons are earned from his fallen enemies, though it's said that Dyntos is responsible for all weapons in a Hephaestus sort of way.
Give him any sort of Sacred Treasure, and his power shoots up immensely, but he's killed Thanatos (god of Death) with his usual arsenal alone.
Pit without Palutena just means no flight and no Powers beyond his weapons. Though he can fly on his own of he's got the Pegasus Wings or GST.

I have a message from another time...There should've been an event based around that. Pit has infinite stock unless Palutena is knocked out. Defeating Pit is the goal, by the way.

Call me butter, because I am on a roll! 3ds friend code: 5258-0885-3903 Wii U: Bowser CharizardI'd say that the strongest smasher would be Sonic.
He's managed to fight on even footing with The god of destruction. And Dark Gaia. And The Time Eater. And varying other shenanigans with Super Sonic.
Notably, he's also got like, 5 different Super Modes
But if we're going just nintendo characters, then I'd say the strongest is Mario. He can tank the destruction of the universe and its subsequent rebirth. And fight Bowser no matter how obscenely huge he gets.

There's not going to be an answer to the question of who's the most powerful character without first laying down some premises that must be applied to all of them. First of all, what is "power"? Are we talking powers such as a godlike power to change the world, or just who would win in the most fights under neutral circumstances? And what do you do about weapons and power-ups? Pit with or without sacred treasures? Super Sonic or vanilla Sonic? Monado Boy or just Boy?
That makes it really difficult. You can't just say that weapons have to be taken out of the equation because Link and others are all about their weapons. Mario, too, would be little without his power-ups, and while he's beaten some crazy entities, the only reason he could do so was because there always happens to be some quirk to a battlefield that allows him to get the better of his enemies, and power-ups allow him to take at least one hit of just about anything, whether it's a Goomba tackle or a nuke. Outside of that, he's just a very skilled, pretty strong and extremely agile man. Which still puts him above some others like Marth, who seems at least bound by the laws of physics.
I guess to put them on equal footing, you'd have to restrict characters to their most iconic form and level of equippedness, so Master Sword and a couple standard items for Link, big Mario, vanilla Sonic... I guess?
Who would then also be taken down by your average Forces of Nature commander a few chapters later.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyShe's a direct underling of Viridi though so I kinda doubt it.
What is a fandom? A miserable little pile of flame wars! 3DS FC: 0387-9377-7408 PSN ID: Raven King SageInterestingly, I don't think Phosphora is ever explicitly called a goddess in the game. She could be something else, for all we know. Some sort of spirit or nymph or demon, perhaps.

That's not a great argument against her being a goddess, though, since we see other gods who are direct underlings of more powerful gods.

"We're home, Chewie."If Phosphora isn't a goddess she must have the lifespan of one. (Immortal)
Palutena did try to compare her age to Phosphora's.
My point is that I think that Phosphora is a goddess of sorts.

Call me butter, because I am on a roll! 3ds friend code: 5258-0885-3903 Wii U: Bowser CharizardI can't use Meta Knight though. Which is fine; I wasn't able to use him well in Brawl either. His playstyle just doesn't gel well with me.
I've started using Wii Fit Trainer this week. She's much more powerful than I originally thought, especially after I got used to how short the range is on some of her attacks (like her neutral air).

Ah Meta Knight, the one other guy I was ok with using in Brawl besides Kirby. They were both light, hard to hit, fast, combo prone, and capable of insane distances. I tried to play as DDD just to complete the Kirby trifecta, but he was too awful. Not so much now though.

Souleye - PPPPPP - Potential for Anything 3DS FC: 2621-3105-8671For all intents and purposes, Phosphora is the same thing as Pit. Not gods, but powerful entities in their own rights that can hit on the same scale as them. I believe Phosphora refers to gods in a fashion that indicates she isn't one.
I like playing as Meta Knight. I'm not good as him, but he's fun. He doesn't rack up damage as well as I'd like him to, and he's definitely got a hard time killing. His throws are awesome though.
By the way, here's Ness winning a tournament.
I think I'm the only one that uses Ness's "Checkered Plain Background Shirt" alt. I also can't see Master Belch on that shirt in the gif.

I dunno, I guess the fourth-wall-breakingness of the quote makes it sound word-of-godish to me.
Admittedly, he could've just been teasing Pit, or setting him up for failure by giving him a big head. But still, he's pretty frikkin' strong.
