There's a rolette still. And the "Rival" is just a random CPU that I think might be a big tougher than the other ones.

With "themed" I meant that battles focusing on characters from a single franchise aren't around anymore, but Metal and stuff also aren't there unless by chance you get an "intruder" in the fight you're going into, but then you could easily end up having to deal with stuff like a Giant Ike + 6 other CP Us which isn't exactly fair.

No team battles!? Praise Acreus, Palutena, Helix, and Master Hand! Those abominations were fraking impossible! Especially against Fire Emblem characters... (Shudders)

Team Battles can still happen late in the mode, but from what I've experienced your AI partners are much, much smarter in the Wii U.

Ah, I kind of liked the themed battles. I think my favorite was a free-for-all on Arena Ferox, can't remember who exactly was involved though, just that it was cool to have everyone on their home stage at the same time.

Glad to hear the friendly AI is better. I get rather annoyed when they seem to just sit there and die sometimes >_<

Nah, the team AI is still stupid.

In fact, Gang Up on the Human is so hardwired into their soul that they'll sometimes "accidentally" throw explosives or other friendly-fire-bypassing things at you, while otherwise standing around doing nothing to help.

Intruders are sorta annoying. Once went into a 2-vs-2 match only for BOTH opponents to be replaced with metal foes. On Bridge of Eldin. They promptly killed my ally, making it 2-on-1. I actually almost won, but the last one got the Dragoon.

Basically, the set-up for the 3DS and Wii U Classic Modes:

3DS

1-4: Normal Battle or One of the Special Battles (Giant, Metal, Team, Free-For-All, special battles get more common the further you go)
5: Horde Battle or Fighting Mii Team
6: Final Battle

Wii U

1-2: Normal Battles against a certain number of opponents, with Rival being present and fightable.
3: A battle against all survivors (and your Rival if you haven't gotten to him/her yet).
4: Same as round 1-2 except against opponents with custom moves and Rival is replaced with the occasional randomly appearing intruders (Giant and Metal, uses default specials) who replace one of the opponents on-scene.
5: Basically Round 3 but with the remaining opponents from Round 4. Intruders can still appear.
6: Fighting Mii Team
7: Final Battle

And I must say, I really really prefer the 3DS one over the Wii U one, simply because the usual Special Battles are so good for Smash.

I like Wii U Classic because you have a little more freedom in who you fight...at least until you go up against the survivors.

And you can get way more rewards.

My AI partners so far have been actually helpful in team matches, I've had them do most of the work for me sometimes.

Scratch anything good I said, this continues to be the worst game in the world just like every other entry in the series.

Okay...the rubber part of the circle pad fell off, all I notice is that I now have a better grip on it which means that sweaty fingers don't effect my playing ability.

[up][up] I think you should post the pics to Miiverse and then link us to your post.

And pothole the link because leaving it like that is ugly.

I also have no idea what you're going for.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!

Substitute is so ridiculous. It can KO Dedede at 104% without any bonus from the rage mechanic and that's the one that takes the longest. Jigglypuff can be KO'd with at most at 68%.

That move is crazy strong.

I guess they wanted to make sure that it's a powerful counter considering it's one of the slowest ones in the game. I also feel like that appearing from below (knocking foes upward) has more knockback than the other directions.
