I mean more in terms of:
"I really do want to get all the 51 all-star final smash trophies."
"But good lord, that means I have to play all 51 characters in all-star mode."
Trust me, that number is very daunting when you're barely good enough to get two of them.
I guess I technically don't need to do all the challenges, and I probably won't, but that still means there's unlocks I won't get and it's gonna bug me. I'm OCD that way, but I'm not good enough at games to justify that '100%' mindset.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectAlso when you want to beat that all All-Stars on Hard challenge!
I'm just holding off on those Final Smash trophies for when I have time and more tolerance for losing.
I've gotten KO'd too many times in the last match because I didn't pace myself well enough on the healing items...and I'm not good at maximizing my damage output without minimizing my input.
And most of your opponents only go off with well-placed smashes or a whole lot of damage beforehand, and they're always swarming you.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayThis is the kind of game that you are expected to keep playing for a long time, so it's not such a ridiculous idea to have overarching/difficult challenges for some nifty stuff and bragging rights, as long as it's not a Mewtwo in Melee kind of situation. You just gotta keep that completionist side of you tied up to a chair in the meantime.
When it comes to Classic, I have only been able to reach Master Core at 9.0 with 3 characters (Shulk, Lucario, and Rosalina), and have only managed to beat Master Fortress with Shulk and Lucario after falling to 8.5. The Boss Rush you have to pull to reach it puts a toll on me, and I'm sure the Fortress would screw me over at 9.0 anyways.
To my surprise, I dealt with All-Star far better than I expected with my two big mains. Beat it on hard with Lucario and Shulk after some trial and error. I'm still not sure if the best strategy is to keep your distance and deal with them carefully, or rush in and smash them as far as possible; at least the latter did wonders when completing Shulk's 6 minute challenge on normal.

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."If you guys think Smash has too much content you clearly haven't played Hyrule Warriors. I still haven't finished the first adventure mode map there. It's such a timesink.
So far I've done Classic with Greninja, Marth, Palutena, Samus and I think either Falco or Lucario. All-Star only with Greninja and Lucario. It helps when you have a sister to help you complete the game twice as fast.
People are just trying to get things done too quickly...it ends up being less fun doing everything as fast as possible when you could just do a specific amount at a time and then take a break from doing 100% until you're ready to do more.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Yes. Will I need to do some events to unlock stages?
Call me butter, because I am on a roll! 3ds friend code: 5258-0885-3903 Wii U: Bowser CharizardYes...
Stage - Kongo Jungle 64 Beat the "The original heavyweights" event
Stage - Pokemon Stadium 2 Beat the "When Lightning Strikes" event
Stage - Smashville beat the "Playing Tricks" event
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. That's it? What do you get for beating that Kirby event everyone rages about?
Call me butter, because I am on a roll! 3ds friend code: 5258-0885-3903 Wii U: Bowser CharizardI'm pretty sure that those just give you the standard "Rewards" for doing the extra objectives on the given difficulty.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Um, for 3DS I've managed to clear 9.0 13 times, with Greninja, WFT, G&W, Ike, Dedede, Flaco, Charizard, Jigglypuff, Duck Hunt, R.O.B, Dr. Mario, Lucina and Shulk. Greninja and WFT got a few Smash-Runs first, but everyone else only had 2 CPU mirror matches while I was exploring the characters when I first bought the game... I wasn't sure how that compared to the good players though.
All-Star I've only used Greninja [Hard] and Mii-Brawler [Normal]. That's probably my next completionist challenge since it's going to reveal the requirements for the last three panels I don't know anything about on challenge board 3.
Personally I don't mind the "Clear x mode with all fighters" challenges, I think it gives me a good excuse to at least try everyone and see just what fits my playstyle instead of picking the current top-tier character and trying to learn that because "it's the best". But it definitely requires some pacing to not get burnt out by, I took several days to finish the Classic challenge. We'll see how I feel when it's time for me to do the Wii-U challenges though :p
NOT looking forward to trying the high-scores on Home-Run Contest, it's an interesting diversion but not one I really enjoy sinking time into. And if "Play 10 collective hours of Smash" can't be cleared solo then I'm in trouble because none of my friends even have a 3DS! At least that I know of.
High score in distance or GSP?
If its distance...well then all you need to do is cheese it with Ganondorf.
Considering the final HRC challenge requires Ganon, it'll pretty much give you all of the ones that aren't character specific.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Distance, I keep forgetting GSP is a thing!
Currently I need 3280 ft with no specific character, my best is 2409.7 ft, with Ganondorf actually, and that was a lucky shot I haven't quite been able to recreate. Is there a sweet spot on the bat or something? Because I really can't see how I'm going to clear this. I was planning to look up a youtube video on it once I run out of other challenges to do...
With Ganondorf you can really send that thing flying: Start with a side smash, walk forward a little bit, and then wail on Sandbag using your down tilt and hitting it every time it bounces back. Then pull a reverse Warlock Punch and watch the thing fly.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Thanks, that explains the 800ft difference! Might even be simpler than trying to juggle the bag and make sure I've got that bat in 10 seconds, I'll give it a shot later.
Also I'm really glad they got rid of the barrier breaking if you bounce sandbag off it too much mechanic they had in Brawl. So annoying >_<

Experiencing everything and literally doing everything the game has to offer are 2 different things.
The challenges are an experience...but they aren't an experience that come from any individual game mode, they are an experience that put an objective on doing something in a certain way in any game mode. These are things that you could've done on your own time just as little self-challenges and the experience comes from the difficulty of said challenges. Its not really giving something new to the player, in terms of actual original content.
