Hey guys! I... kinda missed 80 pages of smashing discussion. University exams and Smash Bros. together in the end of the year; go figure.

Anyway, the game is nearly everything I hoped for. Totally worth every single buck. Right now I have 600 trophies and 110/140 clear challenges on me, and I bet I won't be 100% completing anything anytime soon. Freaking perfect 9.0 challenge...

Anyone know if it's possible to pit an Amiibo against someone online? Fluff Hunt's starting to pick up some of my bad habits.

I actually thought that when you started playing against me, you were actually using your Amiibo on me since I don't think I ever saw you using Fox before tongue

I don't know if that's possible though.

It's kind of weird how I think that Greninja feels more like a ninja character than Sheik does (or I guess it's more accurate to say that Greninja applies more typical ninja tropes than Sheik does, making it seem more ninja-like as far as fictional ninja go). Makes me wonder how a third ninja character would play.

...I still wish there was a playable samurai character in Smash (and I wouldn't say that the Mii Swordfighter dressed in samurai garb counts tongue).

In other news, I've recently downloaded Super Smash Flash 2 and played around a bit in training. It seems like a neat game, but I wish I could pull the camera back a little... It feels like it's too close to the characters compared to official Smash. I'm also only slightly put off by the third party characters, even though I like a couple of them (Sora and Black Mage), if only because I keep hearing that only Naruto, Goku, and/or Ichigo are used online.

[up][up]I've been learning against my Amiibo. Whether I'm getting good grades is another story.

[up]Only if you actively seek them out. There is no With Anyone option in Flash 2. You have to arrange matches in advance.

...you'll probably still run into Ichigo a lot, though. His ability to wavedashnote  can be taken advantage of to make up for his slow attack startup, so he's thought to be pretty high-tier right now.

Goku and Naruto are considerably harder to take full advantage of. Though Goku is really fun. Goku main here.

Sheik is a ninja mostly in the fact that she's really freaking fast in both movement and attacks. Greninja has a more deceptive kind of gameplay with little tricks that make him more unique, mainly what you can do with Shadow Sneak and the way Substitute works. Sheik on the other hand is pretty straight-forward, though Vanish is a cool move.

I once saw a zero-to-death combo from Ichigo, used against Black Mage. I guess this game still has its kinks to iron out.

I have no idea why people are making such a fuss over anime characters in a freeware fan game.

[up]Because the weeaboos must be eradicated yadda yadda yadda. The same kinds of people complain about Shulk and the FE gang.

But yeah, Ichigo is definitely getting nerfed in 0.9c. Everyone agrees he's at the top right now.

I actually enjoy Crusade as much as Flash 2 almost more so.

Anyway, did you hear of the "Perfect Pivot" technique found in Smash 4

It's pretty much like wavedashing

Is this a Jo Jo reference?

I can't get past Crusade's They Just Didn't Care sprite quality myself. I do keep ip with it though. Duck Hunt Dog was my main there years before he was revealed to be in Smash 4.

And I often play on custom stages in 4 from both Flash 2 and Crusade. From the former, Twilight Town, Lunar Core, Namek, and Sky Sanctuary Zone. From the latter, Cut Man's Arena and Q*Bert.

And yeah, pivoting is really effective now.

[up][up][up][up]Oh I don't mind the anime characters themselves, I just heard that they weren't all that balanced (or outright broken), but then again, that was a while back, and apparently the game's been getting good with its balance patches since then.

Goku and Naruto may be the only two anime characters I play with, since I know nothing about Ichigo and his series.note

Ah ok. I don't know if I'll put in the effort to learn the game enough to play online, but that's good to know.

Oh, and the first thing I did when I booted the game up was try Mega Man. Since this is after I've gotten used to the character in Smash 4, needless to say, I was a bit surprised at how he's implemented in Flash.

I think I kind of like his Final Smash in Flash more than in 4, if only because it references the Classic series.

Still debating using a controller for the game instead... I have trouble trying to play fighting games with the keyboard.

EDIT:By the way, are there any unlockables in Flash 2?

tongue For what it's worth, I mostly like the idea behind it, rather than the execution (it seems like all he does is hover and fire infinite fists, which seems kind of boring to me). Alternatively, seeing the Mega Men gather up just take out people in 4 is still satisfying to witness.

So not only is there now a new form of Wavedashing in Smash 4 but it's also absurdly easier to execute. That's... actually a good thing, I think. It'll make getting into higher level play that much easier.

I'll never be able to make use of Perfect Pivoting. I don't have the sense of timing or the dexterity to pull that off with the analog stick.

I'll probably miss out on a lot because of it, but I'll just keep playing without it.

I think I've pulled it off a few times before I knew about it, but despite what that video says, I don't think I'll be able to get it to work as well on the 3DS version. I'm already afraid of breaking the Circle Pad as is...

Perfect pivoting looks to be pretty nifty, in that it seems to be based mostly on the actual native controls instead of Melee's wavedashing, which was basically all clack.

I sure said that!

My Circle pad has only just now had the rubber part slightly peeling off.

I've only got a 3DS, and chances of my getting a Wii-U and Smash (and an GC controller adapter, and a GC controller ect) by Christmas 2015 are exceedingly slim unless I manage to actually find a job to pay for my gaming habit, so chances are I'm never going to learn how to perfect pivot. Looks like a cool trick anyway.

On a side note, playing against (randomly selected) lv9 Marth and Shulk got me wondering: Does anyone know if it's possible to counter Greninja's counter? I imagine you might be able to if someone else triggers Substitute and you happen to be in the path too, but I mean if you triggered it.

It probably takes insane timing if you didn't set it up on purpose or predict it though...
