Hm... So you can't control which direction Lucario springs from either, right?
I'm mostly asking because he's one of the characters I'm juggling recently and I've SD'd a couple of times countering someone. Of course, I suppose Aura could affect the distance or whatever, but I thought it only affected the move's strength.
Just messed around with Lucario a little in a CPU match and some training. Turns out he moves more that I thought when he counters, guess there's a reason I've been lurking instead of posting anything :p
Anyway, as far as I can tell (from comparing Lucario at damage 0% and 999% in training) Aura doesn't seem to make much (if any) difference in the distance he travels during a counter. Though there were a few times it looked like the distance changed in my match against the computer, possibly based on nearby walls or something. Not sure what determines which direction he comes from yet, maybe where he's attacked from?

Yeah, based on what I've experienced, that seems to be the case. I think it works like this:
- Hold Nothing or Forward = Lucario reappears and attacks from the opposite direction he's facing.
- Hold Back = Lucario attacks in the direction he's facing from where he's standing.
I also went and looked at Greninja's counter, and man, being able to appear from nearly anywhere is pretty cool, and has the potential to set up some nifty mind games. And people had been claiming that its counter was the worst of the bunch.

He's not invincible during it, so it can be punished. Otherwise it's good.
Call me butter, because I am on a roll! 3ds friend code: 5258-0885-3903 Wii U: Bowser CharizardIt's slow to start so if the enemy hits you with a fast attack like say a basic combo, they can shield it unlike the other counters.
I also think it gives you less time to activate the counter than the other ones. It definitely has it's uses but just like Shadow Sneak, it's all about deception
By the way it's only punishable if the opponent is using a multihit move and even then you can still hit if aim it correctly. The kick sends Greninja so far it's almost impossible for the opponent to follow him unless maybe if said opponent is Sonic.

Yes, Froggy deception.
I still, for the love of god, CANNOT get 3 rival K Os as Diddy Kong. Every time I try to knock the bastard out he keeps coming back. And when I get one measly KO I already have 100% damage.
And is there a way to play Smash Tour with just two players? No bots.

ASAB: All Sponsors Are Bad.I main Rosalina (sorry, just kinda want to avoid misuse), but I sub Robin, Duck Hunt Dog, Mac, and Marth.
Stealth, speed, deception and mindgames are the whole point of being a ninja after all! Too bad the CPU's super reaction speed and, well, AI-ness makes it kinda hard to practice mind games on.
Unfortunately I don't really know how to fight Diddy, Good luck :(
Current status: Still trying to find the line between unpredictability and stupidity. Progress: nowhere near enough.

In order of effectiveness...
Top 5 mains:
Toon Link...so fast and agile, which decent projectiles that can easily give me the advantage if I choose. Whether I just use the boomerang upward and downward or use the bombs on myself to get me out of danger.
Kirby...floaty pink puff ball, the lack of end-lag on a lot of his attacks makes it easy to just chain some attacks together.
Sonic...has made it into my group of mains.
Mario...he's a classic.
Mr. G&W...he's not as good as in Brawl, but he still kicks gut.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.
x4: Yeah, that just had me staring at my screen saying "...how?!"
And grrr, Nabbit. This is a one on one fight, man.

I've only had 3DS Smash for about 3 weeks, and after finishing the "Clear Classic with all characters" challenge I'm STILL trying to decide who I want to main. So far I'm leaning towards Greninja, WFT, and Pikachu (due to playing him a lot in the Demo while I was waiting to get the full game), but if we go off of classic scores Dedede is my "best" character right now.
I'm honestly surprised I cleared 9.0 with him...
On Lucario, I haven't used him much (though I want to practice with him some more). But his counter seems fairly good to me, and you don't have the risk of accidentally flying off stage when you use it. I did that once or twice before I realized you could control which way Greninja goes. >_>
