Being able to beat level 9's has nothing to do with skill and only gives you terrible habits. That's your problem.
Are you playing with items and on janky stages with hazards? You might just have had terrible luck that day. Also, if you're doing free-for-alls, it's probably that the other players are just ganging up on you (this ability for the less skilled players to gang up on a better-skilled one and take them out is why tournaments don't do FFA's).

No, I hate awkward stages and items and anything that's not 1v1. I hate anything luck-based because Finagle's Law keeps proving itself right.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI'm pretty sure he's talking about 1v1.
I can only say from experience that the more times you play, the less you care about your win/loss ratio. Your opponent disrespects you? Let them. It's fun sometimes to watch how desperately people feel the need to assert their superiority towards you. And hey, maybe the person on the other end is alright, they're just having a little fun.
Fighting a certain CiscoKid in Skullgirls has kinda numbed me to teabagging. He just doesn't care and you can both laugh over it.
Here's my entry to the current Miiverse photo contest, anyway...
