It's not about how hard you hit, but where you're hitting.

The credits you hit fly (almost) straight back into the wall. You have to hit them in the right place at the right time...

I've found that it matters where your attack's hitbox is.

Do you even get an award for completing those things?

[up][up]So THAT'S how that works? Huh. All this time I thought stale moves were applying to the credits or something.

That picture revealing minigame is so much easier on 3DS. The addition of sideways-scrolling credits makes a huge difference.

You could try it with two players; I don't know if that would satisfy the challenge but if it does it'll make it much easier.

Funny, I almost never had trouble completing that picture, I think I only failed twice?

It's easier on the 3DS though.

I just tried Event mode for the first time and woooow did it make me remember how much I can hate a Smash Bros game. Goddamn.

I'll just go ahead and not give a shit about any rewards because a challenge like "beat this bullshit in 45 seconds or less" is just the greatest shit in the world when the enemies do nothing the whole time but randomly run in circles and evade you, FUCK. GodDAMN.

It just feels so random. You have no control over when the CPU decides to perfectly block and when it doesn't, you can't anticipate its attacks because it just randomly decides whether it's going to attack, jump around like a moron or stand around like a moron. I got so close to 45 seconds on the Event where you have to beat Link and Zelda and then Palutena as G-dorf, then almost as close, and then I finally managed to KO Link and Zelda simultaneously at a super-early point, but nope, Palutena decided not to let it happen with some random dodging bullshit and just

wow, these games

... are there any event match rewards that actually matter or is it all gimmicky equipment?

I just hope no custom moves are behind the final battle challenge. Had to use Pac's Side B liberally to BS my way through that hell.

On the topic of events, am I the only one who thinks the All-Star Battle events are way harder in this one? The CPU kills you with such ease and you only have 2 stocks while going against like, 8 opponents.

Are there any more stages available in 8 player Smash than the ones given to you when you start the game?

Event Mode in general is a LOT harder than it was in Melee or Brawl.

But seriously though, I'm gonna need a list of what rewards you get for each challenge. Someone's got to have made one, but a cursory Google search didn't reveal anything useful.

@bats The Duck Hunt stage requires getting at least one KO in Cruel Smash, Pac-Land requires playing on all three Smash Tour maps, and Kongo Jungle 64 requres beating The Original Heavyweights, but that one's easy.

Eeeeeeeeverything in this Smash is harder. But fortunately, here are the unbreakable challenges:

  • Clear Classic on at least 8.0 with at least 2 characters
  • Clear Classic on at least 8.0 with at least 3 characters
  • Clear Classic on 9.0 without losing a life
  • Clear True All-Star on Hard difficulty
  • Clear a Master Order on Very Hard or higher
  • Get 8 KO's in Cruel Smash with Lucina
  • Get a Fever Rush 8 or more times in Trophy Rush with Dr. Mario
  • Clear True All-Star on Normal or higher without using healing items
  • Clear Solo 10-Man Smash with Dr. Mario without taking damage
  • Complete all reward conditions for Solo Events (dang)
  • Clear Solo All-Star within 6 minutes with Jigglypuff
  • Collect over 300,000 G
  • Clear True All-Star on Hard with Duck Hunt
  • Clear True All-Star Battle:Secret event on Hard
  • Clear all Solo Events

At least, those are what Gamefaqs tells me.

[up] I meant like is there a way to play every stage in 8 player Smash? right now only a few are available for me to use 8 players on. More with Omega mode on, obviously.

No...because the Wii-U's processing power won't allow more stages to be played with 5 to the full 8 player Smash battles.

I think it's funny vanilla!Battlefield is one of the options for 8-player, considering they made a whole other version of it specifically for 8-player Smash.

What's funnier is that Final Destination isn't 8-player playable. Guess it still doesn't have enough length to it.

If they wanted to be really fair, they could have just made all Omega stages the same length. ;p

It bugs me that the game thinks Skyworld, Castle Siege, and Yoshi's Island are suited for 8-Player Smash. They aren't, and it's a pain getting them in Classic.

Castle Siege at least works for 8 player during the second transformation.

I'm finding that beating the harder challenges feels like work.

Not that it isn't fun, but I have to be in the right mood to spend several minutes of my life beating everybody on the roster with everybody on the roster in All Star mode.

Yeah, I think this is where the sheer size of Smash 4 can work against it. Do you really want to go through all these modes with every single character? That's why bigger may not be the best way to go with the next instalment. At some point it's just completely unmanageable and tedious.

I'm just focused on unlocking the characters and levels. Once that's done I'm not bothering overly with all the other stuff, not even customs. I have yet to collect a CD though, so that's sad.
