Can you play 8 player smash on a custom stage?

No, I was really sad about that!

The stages I made were perfect for 8 people!

Omega stages actually have a few differences. Different sizes, different shapes on the bottom (meaning some of them allow you to "slide" up to the ledge during recovery while others just stop your movement short), some have walls allowing combatants to wall tech/jump, different blast zones, and Pac-Man 3DS's stage being completely black and giving a blatant advantage to Greninja.

[up]I didn't really think it was that much of an advantage. I learned to pay attention to timing rather than the shadow itself due to other factors, such as my terrible peripheral vision not being able to concentrate on both Greninja himself and a shadow that may or may not be there...

(Also, Balloon Fight was much worse in that area.)

Does it ever amuse anyone else when someone gets sent rocketing off at a strange angle?

The mooks in the multi melees are sent at such a hilariously low angle when Sonic dashes into them.

Got all the event matches. Now i'm going to focus on the challenges board for a few weeks, interspersed with some online. That Kirby Event fell easily enough today, guess it was a matter of luck (random spawning on that food and all)

At home, I can beat my brother all the time, even when he's using his best character and I'm not. Online, I went through 16 battles without a single win. Why doesn't anyone inform the Smash developers about the existence of matchmaking and how it would be a great feature to implement?

A system where players of roughly equal skill are placed against each other. Preferably, without using a metric that depends solely on single-player modes.

But what happens when someone hasn't played in a while and they're out of practice? Are they demoted? Or do they stay in their bracket where they end up getting kicked all over the place.

Supposedly there's some matchmaking going on behind the scenes. I believe this was stated in the April Direct. Not sure if there's any way to prove this though.

The system needed for the Match Making thing you want for Online play would be out of the question since Sakurai went out of his way to make a completely opposite way of that system and for a different purpose.

Plus it would only be good for One mode, in one part of the Online system...which probably doesn't seem worth it.

The good(?) thing about some of the challenges is that some of them are the exact same, but just using a different character. Like Ganondorf and the Home Run Contest.

I used to think that Yoshi was the Home Run Contest King, but maybe I was wrong. ;p

I've been spending all my money on Master Orders, which is really terrible for me, but I just really like the quick, almost casual way of unlocking things. CD's have been flowing through like water.

Getting anything resembling 100% completion though will probably take something like months...but maybe I'll get most of it before Mewtwo is ready.

I can confirm that there is matchmaking.

On Smash 3DS, I've played over 600 battles, and my rate of running into a Little League Mac as opposed to someone who could go toe to toe with me is currently about 1 in 50. In the meantime, everyone else was still complaining about all the LLM they still ran into supposedly constantly. This was shortly before Smash U came out.

On Smash U, where my profile is a lot younger, I'm running into LLM every other match, just like when I first started playing Smash 3D.

Apparently, an error is floating around with Smash that can wipe your memory clean and brick your Wii U. I'd be very careful with playing Smash until Nintendo patches it.

That said though, I played 8-Player Smash the other day and its every bit as insane and fun as I thought it would be.
