I' don't wish equipment didn't exist, I like the extra help.
But I find that doing modes with certain characters tends to get their customs over everyone else's.
Also, I love Master Orders because it's a quick way to Smash AND get some extra rewards.

You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would staySo, do you have to leave an Amiibo uncustomized if you want to fight a vanilla opponent, or can you just turn customizations off in that match?
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI just wish there were separations between custom moves, equipment, and outfits. Lumping all of it together makes getting what you want very difficult, especially as getting dupes is incredibly common.
Also, yes, there is a slight bias toward whatever character you use in a given mode. The only exception is the Mii, which just gives random drops.
You gotta play a lot to get all the stuff you want. I played Smash Run with Shulk probably a dozen times before I got all his specials.
At least on Wii U there are more ways to get things now, Special Orders and Smash Tour...

That is the new best thing.
Everyone needs a little more Jiggle in their lives.
Seems to be a pretty non-indicative name, really.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyOh she still gets out of the TV and walks around? Greeeeaaaat...
So does 5-Volt insta-KO you if she spots you or just does damage and launch the people she sees? And are her appearances as telegraphed here as they are in Game & Wario so that players can try to hide from her reasonably well?
5-Volt's quite a looker, but she gets right scary when she bends reality just to make sure you're in bed.
Seems to deal considerable knockback, for sure. When she appears, a beam of light from her eyes moves to the table at a decent enough clip for you to take cover beforeOHGODWITHTHETEEETH.

When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefCompared to some other stage hazards, it's actually kind of tame in terms of damage and knockback. Though it makes up for it in range, I suppose.
That said, it's definitely easy to avoid, especially since the center of the stage is nearly always safe and even outside of that her range of vision is limited. The computer stinks at avoiding it, though.

About the whole beating 8 in Cruel Smash as Lucina thing, I found this strategy by Game Xplain to work best for me:

I wonder if they'll somehow patch that out....
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! It's not like that's a glitch or anything. And ultimately a lot of those challenges are really just about finding a way to bullshit the system. You can't seriously expect anyone to survive Cruel Smash for a minute as Luigi without making use of their ability to just stall off-stage. Doing it "legit" would be a self-imposed challenge. Not to mention that getting a 100-hit combo in this game just by traditionally comboing an opponent is likely plain impossible. It cannot be done without experimenting to find a way to make it work and has nothing to do with testing one's technical comboing skill.

All custom moves are the same, but equipment is really variable. Two of the same badge can have different stats so it'd be hard to be exactly like your friend's custom.
