On the subject of project m ganondorf, I think a better way to include dead mans volley would to have him fire it if you hold forward whilst he charges up warlock punch.

A good writer puts in a lot of details in there story. But a great one gets a story from a single detail.

I'm not saying Zelda is bad really, just that she probably has more issues than Ganondorf who at least has consistent power on his attacks. Like any other character, Zelda is terrifying in the right hands.

Ganondorf having consistent power on his attacks might mean something if he could ever land any of them. He's a huge target and a slow mover and a poor jumper, and his attacks leave him wide open before and after.

I sure said that!

Like I said, Ganondorf is a character that punishes the opponent for daring to leave themselves open against him. Especially considering that in the Wii U version the blast zones for the stages are smaller, so Ganondorf can potentially end you in just a couple of hits while most characters would struggle to do the same to him due to his weight.

It takes quite a bit of skill to use Ganondorf properly, skill that I don't have and probably never will, the payoff is great though.

Side-B is one of Ganondorf's best moves. One of the best tactics to use as Ganondorf is side-B, d-tilt.

Ganondorf is a character that punishes the opponent for daring to leave themselves open against him.

I feel like this applies for a far larger fraction of the cast than just him.

Kalos League is probably a banned stage not so much because of Rayquaza (It's a very predictable hazard, and it only rarely flies across the actual battlefield) but because of Registeel. It uses Heavy Slam to bury anyone who's standing on the ground, and cause the giant swords to fly up spinning into the air, slicing up everyone in the air for considerable damage. And unlike Rayquaza, there's no real tell that it's going to do that, it's very fast.

Bit grumpy. My perfect For Glory record was ruined by Lagfest 2014.

I know it's considered bad form to blame a loss on lag, but... it was really bad, and my opponent wasn't even playing all that well. I wound up losing via self-destruct because Wario refused to dismount his motorcycle until he was already too low to get back to the stage.

Yes, but in Ganondorf's case it's really punishing because of just how strong his moves are and how quickly he can KO you.

The way that this game treats custom moves makes me think that you're bad if you use them.

You can't use them in Stadium, All-Star, any of the Events where your character is already chosen for you, and obviously not With Anyone.

It's like it's telling you that you're not good unless you can play normally...;p

...but on the bright side, you can use them in Wii U's Trophy Rush, which is nice.

Anyone notice that the Multi-Mook Melee mode is harder on the Wii U? Struggled to get past the 100 man smash, while I grinded through that on the 3DS.

Yes. But everything's harder in this version.

In other news, beat 9.0 with my special Samus. I've always loved her projectiles...very good for shooting all those glowing fleshy growths.

I'll be wanting an amiibo of her too.

Are you talking about All-Star on the Wii U? I'm pretty sure customs are allowed in the 3DS version.

[up]Nope, customs are unavailable in All-Star Mode in both versions. I'm pretty sure he was wrong about them not being usable in pre-picked character Events though. I'll have to check when I get home.

Man, how good this game is just makes bewildering decisions like having to grind for customs and not being able to use them in a good chunk of the modes that much more frustrating.

Blaming a loss on Lag isn't bad in my opinion.

Especially if it happens to be input lag.

If lag screws you out of a win because it happens at a critical moment, then you know what's to blame...or you're a person like me and just adjust to significant amounts of lag in general.

[up]There's a wrench icon and "default" text right below the characters on the Event display screen.

IIRC, I selected that icon and it gave me the options "default" and "random" (I haven't made any custom movesets yet).

Not being able to use customs mean that there's no chance of cheesing certain modes of the game.

I think part of the reason Custom Moves are implemented the way they are is because Sakurai wasn't quite sure how the players would react to them, since they're a new concept for the series. He was probably worried that they would find broken Custom movesets as well.

But it seems that players like the idea behind Custom moves and wish they could use them in With Anyone (as well as either making them easier to unlock or just have them all unlocked by default like Palutena and the Mii Fighters).

[up][up]I don't think there's a combination of custom moves that would let you "cheese" the game, unless you were referring to equipment.

The modes that hold everyone to some kind of standard are the more significant. Everything in Stadium is pretty standardized, and All-Star all goes in the same order...

Not on the same stages, but still.

And I guess that 9.0 with no customizations is just meant to prove you CAN beat Smash normally.

The problem is that the game equates Custom Moves and Equipment. The former are actually okay while the latter is the thing that clearly makes you stronger, but there you go.
